Hi Gang - I have this compelling urge to build another rig and the ASUS Premium interests me. In doing some reasearch, i.e. reading the manual , I came across the settings in "ACPI Suspend Type".

I know what the S1 setting is, I know what the S3 setting is, so what is the S1&S3 setting?

TIA

Jim

P.S. Thanks for the manual AHLnut!

S1 means the CPU's data is kept in suspension. S3 means only the RAM's data is suspended. I suppose S1&S3 means data is suspended on both the CPU and RAM.

Thanks Sierra. Why would suspending to the CPU be needed?

It was set to auto, changed it to 33...

Still get the error so it must be something else?

Anyone? Sierra?

S1 takes you computer settings and open programs that are running at the time and saves them to you hard drive. S3 does the same, but it saves the settings to RAM. With both settings, most power to the board is cut off, except whats needed to save the memory in the ran and the power needed to look for the "wake up input", or mouse/keyboard.

When you enable "power on suspend" (S1), your CPU basically goes to sleep, but the data is preserved. This allows you to start up again almost instantly.

With "suspend to RAM" (S3), when you resume, the CPU has to flush all its data and then retrieve it again from the RAM.

Have you tried using Clockgen in Windows? This will tell you if the PCI bus is in fact locked. Personally I don't use nTune. A number of people have had issues with it.

PCI-E frequency should be 100MHz and the regular PCI bus 33.34MHz.

Ntune didn't work well for me either Sub Zero. I just used the bios to overclock.

Using clockgen it showed the 100 / 33 values..

I'm willing to try anything to get the stuttering in my games resolved... I will jump through hoops if it solves anything.... $^&@(@#$$%

Anyway, after killing my raid array on the silicon controller and trying to setup it on the nvidia controller I get nowhere... I'm constantly getting error while booting windows of some application error.

So all in all, I'm having a ball!!

What games Sub Zero? I looked back a few pages but I missed the ones you are having trouble with.

Ah... Well, I'll certainly try that. Like I mentioned, I'm willing to jump through hoops on the town square to get this bugger out of the way.

Star wars knights of the old republic I
Farcry
Chronicles of riddick (major one!!)
MOHA pacific assault.
Half-life2 (not too bad actually)

Those are the main ones where the first one (KOTOR) can probably be somewhat explained since it is known for its buggy engine.

BTW: after doing reinstallations of drivers, killing my RAID array I've just played 10 minutes of lagless riddick. But the same thing happened yesterday where it was fine for half an hour only to become impossible later on.
