So all in all, I'm having a ball!!
Have u used both nvidia drivers shown when using the F6 method?

I'm not booting off the raid array but from an IDE disk (safe IMHO) so I don't need the boot drivers.

I'm all up and running now with my RAID array although I still get some application error from some nvidia drivers I probably installed before. I installed so much over the last days that I don't even remember what!

But for the last 2 days my rig has been running GREAT!

I was only getting about 30 FPS in BF2 at High settings 1024x768 using onboard sound. Today, I bought a X-Fi sound card. Now, I get 95+ FPS

I have been having huge probs, with BF2 it will freeze my system up. The graphics will freeze and i get an audio loop the only way to get my system back is to reset. Anybody else have this. I have tried just about everything. At this point i am thinking it is the game. My system is stock and 100% stable with every other task.

Sorry to hear your troubles. No problems like that with my system. Did you install the AMD processor driver? How long can you play BF 2 before the lockup? Have you run prime 95 X2 and memtest? Just some suggestions.

That's why i never used any onboard sound solution for ages...
How's the X-Fi? I'm thinking of upgrading my Audigy2 zs with this.

I just got it yesterday. I haven't messed with it too much yet. When I first fired up BF 2, I hadn't changed the sound settings to X-fi. So, when I play tonight, I should be able to compare to both this onboard sound and my Audigy 2 sound.

As for the onboard sound, I can't imagine that it accounts for the 50-60 FPS gain I got? I know it can't use that much CPU power. It must be several factors involved, including possibly the driver. Also, I did have hardware check for audio in the BF 2 settings. Maybe this could have been the cause? Anyway, BF 2 runs so SMOOTHHHHH now 1024x768 HIGH quality with 4xAA and I get 70-90 FPS!!! And that is single player!!! I get 90-100 FPS online!

I agree that it can't use so much cpu power but it uses quite a lot.

Well... read around for my troubles with that mobo and a GTX.

Things you can try are: disable sound (I know it plays like c**)... reinstall the AMD drivers like was suggested, check your device manager for anything out of the ordinary.

So other games run okay? How about 3dmark?

Well i removed my audigy2 card from the system, along with all its drivers and everything seems to be fine (Further testing to verifty). I use my sennheiser headset for bf2 anyway and it has its own usb soundcard, so there in lies the problem i suspect. 2 sound cards in one system = bad Thanks for the replies, the system is sweet and runs like a dream.

The amd drivers you are referring too, are the cool/quiet option, correct? I have that disabled in the bios is there still need to install the driver?
