My good friend oc-rookie just got his A8N-SLI. Here are his results so far with G.Skill PC4400 and PQI PC3200 respectively. Default VCore with the PQI and 1.525v with the G.Skill. Stock cooler. Way to go, pal.

He was using an old video card for testing purposes. He's waiting for his PCI-E cards to arrive. He said the shipping BIOS (1002) sucked. He's using the 1003.002 beta BIOS.

I haven't benched 03 with my "hot rod". I know I wouldn't get anywhere close to that score. In 3DMark01, SLI is not going to help much, if at all. 01 requires both CPU and video card power.

Here's the VDimm mod for those who want better control of the memory voltage.

The only thing I don't like about the board is the VCore which only goes up to 1.65v. If you're using air cooling, this won't be a problem. For extreme cooling and extreme CPU clocks, you need more voltage. I currently use 1.79v. I have used as much as 1.92v on my board. Maybe someone will come out with a modded BIOS that offers higher VCore.

BTW, the wire mod shown above ties VDimm directly to the 3.3v rail on your PSU. Much more accurate than using the OCZ DDR Booster. The Molex connectors allow for a quick disconnect of the VDimm mod, in case you need to format Windows or do other things at default voltage.

Where are they finding the beta 1003 bios for this board, it seems the shipping bios is flakey?

1003.002 is on the Asus website. When you go to the download section, click on BIOS and then click on the circle that says "Beta".

Well seeing as I'm now running stably, I' can get some benchies out of my system - all totally stock unfortunately - i.e. CPU 2200, GC 350/1000.

3DMark 03 - 18702

It seems the MB didn't like me not having a fan pluged into the CPU fan header, and it didn't like my Antec Neopower psu, which I've replaced with an OCZ 520 (600 not available in the UK - bah!)

I still have issues with overclocking - I do not like 'ntune' for one! With the graphics cards, I still have issues with using an adaptor for suplying power.

Example. If I run one card with thePCI-e power connector I can clock 420/1140 easily. If I replace the power connector with an adaptor (i.e. 2 molex to 6pin PCI-e) I cannot run stably above stock (cannot 'test' above 375/1040). If anyone has suggestions as to what might be causing this I'd be greatful!. BTW stock 3dMark 05 is around 8950 - but I was using build 1.0.0 so couldn't submit it! Doh!

Asus released two new beta BIOS files for the A8N-SLI: 1003.003 & 1003.004. They are on the Asus website. Links are below.
