Thanks for the answer, but my consern is how the original "backing bracket" is attached to the ASUS Deluxe SLI motherboard.
Some bracket's are fixed using some kind of glue, and bending it loose may damage the motherboard. This was my problem on my MSI board.

To bad if I damage the motherboard before I mount it up in the machine.

Mine came off easily. Very small amount of adheasive . I then installed the CNPS7700-Cu backplate .
When I switched to the CNPS9500 cooler I simply used the 7700-CU backplate and hardware except for the alum tension bar.

Still wondering about the Bios update from v1009 on this Premium board . Anyone ?

My chipset's temp is higher/hotter (45 vs. 34-36) than my CPU's, is this normal? I'm thinking of taking off the heatpipe and apply AS5, would this cool down the chipset's temp a little (if any at all)?

Not sure about the Deluxe but i had a Premium, and when i undone the 2 screws tha backing plate just fell off which was excellent, so i could fit my Zalman backplate/heatsink with no problems.

Unfortunatley the board died and i replaced it an A8N32 and i found some idiot at ASUS thought it would be a good idea if they used adhesive this time. I used a lot more force than i would have liked too, but to no avail it was stuck for good.

Luckily i had an XP120 on hand which uses the standard backing plate, but i only had a 1400rpm case fan on hand, so i had too use it. To say i was annoyed that afternoon would be a gross understatment lol.

Thanks for all your help!

I have now ordered a Deluxe-edition and hope the bracket is loose from the board.

WOL problems

I have A8N SLI Deluxe (bios 15).

My problem is that I cannot get WOL function to work. Whatever I do ... nothing happens.
I set in BIOS Wake on PCI to Enabled.
I tried numerus WOL programs but ... they didnt work. So I am guessing that is not the problem.
I tried with both NICs (NVidia and Marvel).

In any case I am lost. If anybody managed to successfully power on the computer through LAN (I use a laptop connected through switch) ... please let me know how.

Thx.

A8N SLI Premium
A while back I flashed my board to bios 1011-005, which was I balieve at the time the latest official bios, as I don't usually flash to a beta bios. Now, the 1011-005 bios is no longer on the Asus site, and the latest official bios is 1009. Were there any issues with bios 1011-005 that I missed and did Asus remove that bios? Any known issues with 1011-005? Thanks

The latest beta BIOS is now 1011-06. It's like this since March. No new or final BIOS has been seen for the past three or four months.

Hi, new to the forum but im hoping you may help me out.

Just built my new rig (as in sig) this week and have come across some issues regarding temps since updating the to the 1016 BIOS from 1013.

Take note, this is all using a Gigabyte 3D Cooler Pro which im changing tommorow for a Zalman 9500.

When I built the machine, it was running stock 2.6Ghz w/ stock 1.35v. 1013 BIOS

Temps 38-40 idle and 56-58 load.

When running the machine at 14x200 (2.8Ghz) @ stock 1.35. 1013 BIOS

Temps 40-42 idle and 60-61 load.

Installed the new BIOS 1016 and now its idling at 46-48!.. regardless of overclock or running stock at stock volts?! Load temps are as high as 63/4 under prime.

However, im getting no lockups, no freezing or colour problems etc.

Is this just the BIOS? If not, why is the CPU holding heat?!

One of the reasons I changed BIOS was because the older BIOS didn't recognise the FX-60, but the new one does.

Im hoping the Zalman will fix this, but there wasnt really a problem to begin with, I always intended on changing the Fan to drop load temps but to have idle temps so high im a little concerned as I would expect even with stock cooler at stock settings to be no more then 40d idle.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

I am using the 1302 bios . It did not fix the issue I was hoping it would (an errant 6800 gt that works perfectly on an intel board but not on this one ) The 7900 GS off the intel machine works fine on both (can not swap cards permanently as I dont't own the intel machine) . I suspected it may have had to do with timings and thought a late bios might fix it - but no , did not break anything though.
For reference on this board (A8N-sli premium) the card works fine until a 3D app or game is loaded then a couple of minutes (or less) in freezes.
I am running a single card not SLI .
Card is BFG brand.

Hi All! I have the same identical problem! I just upgrade to the bios 1016 but the problem remain.

The crazy thing is that: "power un by ps2/keybords" works well! So there are any problem on "1A on +5VSB lead" !!

someone could check please?

Angry problem booting with Audigy2 ZS platinum

Hi!
I need you help guys.
Creative want's me to pay for support since the card is a few years old - but they are still selling it (and well).

Anyhow. I recently had (!) setup a new built with the A8n-sli Premium (latest Rev. with dual core support).

I have installed latest beta bios.

NOW: for some weird reason my good ol' Audigy2 ZS plat. keeps the MB from booting/posting at all!!!!

It tired it in all free pci slots (the slots are fine as I have an usb card instead of installed).

I had the same a8n-SLI deluxe MB with this soundcard just running fine (same chipset, right?).

Anybody has some issue?

Should I downgrade to older bios?

I really like the card and paid about $400 when it came it, so I'm not ready to junk it and I believe the card itself works fine, it's just in conjunction with this MB I have an issue.

Help needed! thanx!!!!
