A8N32 Deluxe with X-Fi Fatal1ty and SLI

I just got my A8N32 Deluxe up and running. It’s a tight fit but the sound card has room between the video cards, the slot right above the second PCI Express slot. The heat sink on the X-Fi Fatal1ty FPS just clears the second video card. I ran it for about five hours tonight with out any problems. The Windows installation was completely painless, no problems installing RAID. They are not the best but here are some pics showing the clearance between the sound card and the video cards.

hey I was hoping someone would do this. thank you.

what is your opinion. Is there room for another PCI card or is 1 pushing it. I am thinking what if they come out with the Aegia physics proc card , will there be room for it ?

Now it remains to be seen if the new 7800GT X with the 512mb will have larger cooling solutions and how thats going to work on this board. I really am suprised how they designed this thing with no though toward real estate for the future ..................

Alien resident, I have a mere soundcard and video card, and I already am tight for space. Personally, I think PCI-E other then the 16x slot and 8x for sli should not be on the mobo. I have all these pci express slots I can't use, and are waisting my space. Sheesh, I like future proof as much as the next guy, but nowadays we are ridicolous. I have yet to see any big enough difference to make me go to 64 bit xp, and so much stuff is incompatitable and runs 32 bit it's sad. Ontop of that, I have these slots that even after 2 years of pci-e being on the market (i thnk it's that?) I can't use them.

It appears no sound cards will be pci-e, only stuff like controllers, a tv tuner that was pci-e came out yesturday, but I don't think their would be any quality difference..

*shrugs*

I'de also like a physx card, but will I have space is the question.

Btw, nice wiring, the cables that run near my back fans aer quite hard for me to hide, but I have gotten good airflow by just moving the cables out of the way, doesn't look that grea but it does the job I supose.

“Is there room for another PCI card or is 1 pushing it.”

If you put a second card in the PCI slot just below the first PCI Express slot, you are going to block the fan on the top video card. I would say adding a second PCI card is going to be pushing it unless the video cards had liquid cooling.

Djt, even with liquid, I would think that the tubes would still block it off.

I have this problem too, and the largest dust magnet appears to be my vpu hsf which is also the poorest one in my system.

oh, and I don't think they think about the customer anymore when they design this board. Get this, my vpu just about touches my chipset fan (not the fan itself, but the plate around it), so I can't change the chipset hsf sadly.

Oh, and my hsf for my cpu covers my ram ^^.

where did you purchase the A8N32 board from?...I have looked online everywhere and nobody seems to have it available yet...

I'm building a new rig with the A8N32 mobo, 1 GTX 256 video card, a SoundBlaster ExtremeMusic card and a hardware modem---will there be enough space to fit everything in with proper cooling or do I need to get rid of the modem?

I purchased the board from Newegg before the sold out last week.

I have not tried overclocking yet. It is probably the highest quality motherboard I have owned to date. This board had some heft to it even before I installed the components. I don’t know if I was seeing things or what but it looks like the PCB is thicker. There is also more heat sink/pipes copper than on the Premium so that’s also making it heavier.

Thanks for posting the pictures. It really helped me with seeing the space between the PCI slots and the PCI-e slots. hhmmm *thinks about how his setup will be...

I'll post pictures of mine once I get it up.
