I dont like the way the board recovers from to agressive settings at all.
My old P4C800 would reset the FSB and multi "ONLY" when my OC settings were to high all other BIOS settings remained in tact.
This friggen board resets the entire BIOS to optomised defaults I have to go and redo all BIOS settings, mem timings etc' etc

You never know what vcore you going to get, you have to guess or measure. The higher the Base vcore you choose the less it over volts, untill you hit 1.5vcore, and then it starts to undervolt. {ie choose 1.5v in BIOS and you realy get 1.48v} {choose 1.48 and you get 1.521}

Reguardless of the mem timings you choose, the board will override them to keep what it deems is stability, it's either that or no program can read this board correctly, but judgeing from mem bandwidth I have to think the board is over rideing my settings.

If you can over look the quarks the board does have some good points

It can run at it's max HTT of 400.
{test for max HTT, "not" max CPU or RAM}

Flashed to BIOS 703 yesterday. It seems to handle overclocking recovery some what better. At least it doesn't reset the BIOS when you choose F1. But when you set too high setting save and exit it doesn't reboot, the reset switch doesn't work, only thing I can do is hold the power button until it shuts down, then it'll power back up, POST and boot to windows .

Also using Corsair 4400C25/TCCD IC's some were around 285htt {1:1 mem} 1t timing causes instability. At 290htt with 1t set windows will BSOD before I can get to the desktop. I tried for a couple hours to regain 1t past 285htt but gave up. Not that big a deal for regular use, but the fellows that like to benchmark would find this infuriating most likely.
{foot note: i tried with a x2-3800+/winnie3200+/SD 3700+/3500 caa2c clawhammer, so I'm 100% sure it's not a mem controller cant handle it issue, which certain people love to blame for all memory related issues. Also note every single one of the above CPU's could run with said memory at 300htt 1t in the DFI-ultra-d}

703 BIOS did not seem to correct any of the vcore selection issues. Sorry to keep on about the vcore but it's a big deal "to me", may not bother others, but if I choose 1.350 + 0.2 over then "I" expect to get 1.55 or very close to that as measured with a DMM. The board is tooted by Asus as an enthusiast/Gamers board, so IMO the features that are included at least need to work correctly.

Blue, can you try 1.15 + 0.2overvolt option? and see if that yields the proper default for an X2?

also if you use lower multi's does that allow lower vcore to be used?

hopefully ASUS will release a 1000+ BIOS soon...like was stated earlier by FB anything under 1000 by ASUS looks to be not as mature and stable...the board is still very new so I'm sure ASUS is still working on things

hopefully ASUS will get out a new BIOS this week (as I am building my rig )

I'm not sure the vcore will ever be fixed. Asus doesnt expect people to whip outa DMM and check their work I think as long as the Reporting software appears close Asus will leave it at that, at least thats how theyve dont in the past.

It's a good board don't get me wrong, I'm just real picky when it comes to voltage, and it's controls on a board that costs over $150. If it's tooted as an OCer's board then I expect them to work correctly.

If it were a $99 board I would expect this kind of oversight.

thats how i feel about it for the most part. the voltages are rock solid, they are just not perfect

hopefully i will get my new X2 on monday, i talked to the fedex guy on friday, and asked him if he could get it to me on monday.

i am really curious about the 1.15+0.2 over option

FB when I tried 1.15 + 0.2 over I get 1.402 at the MOSFET.

do you have to removce the PWM heatsink to measure VCore, and are you sure your getting the right read point if the VCore's are so far off?

grrrrrr! better than 1.41, but still. i feel i should be able to set my vcore to default value, especially if i am not overclocking it

No I don't have to remove the Heat sink. I did at first so I could check each MOSFET and make sure the middle leg was the same on all.

I cant think of a better place to measure vcore than at the MOSFET's that regulate it and smooth it out. Can you?
