No not overclocking at all right now. In fact all settings are at default after resetting CMOS. I haven't even had a chance to consider OCing yet hehe...

Thanks for the link ill see if I can get it working.

under the exit menu in the bios, there should be an option for load optimised defaults, i would suggest running that.

OK tried the above. Reset to defaults. Ran memtest and only got to 20% pass before it shut down with no errors detected.

That's it I am taking this POS back to FRY's tomorrow. Not looking forward to going to a store on Black Friday though lol.

I guess I will return everything. The motherboard RAM and CPU and get the same motherboard and CPU but I will get a regular Kingston RAM module. This CMX1024 dual 1 gig looked SOOO great but maybe it isn't meant to be on tis board? But if that was the case would I have possibly seen an error in that short time I was able to run memtest?

Antec Neo HE 500W. But it ran on an Intel Pentium D 3.0 for 2 days until I realized I should have gone AMD and brought that junk back .

I have not been able to get into normal windows yet due to the system rebooting right after the Windows XP splash screen. Also while I am in bios trying to configure the settings the system randomly reboots or even does a shut down. The same happens when I boot in Safe mode. I get in windows safe mode and then it will reboot/shutdown within 5 minutes. The CPU temp NEVER gets above 45C. It sees both of my SATA drives and CD rom.

I have looked at the ASUS website for the QVL list and do not see my particular RAM listed however the TWINX model is listed which is supposedly the same as mine according to Corsair's website. I bought the dual 2GB pack.

My question is... What do I do now? Is there a problem with the RAM? Or CPU? Should I return the whole thing and try another set and hope for the best? I got it at Fry's 2 days ago so I "should" be able to take it back no problem.

Any advice would be appreciated.

BTW I have tried EZ flashing to the latest Beta BIOS and while reading it from the floppy the system continually beeps and says reading file A8NSLI.ROM but does nothing ater even 15 minutes. When I try to EZ flash from the CD it reads it says completed and then says flash failed.

I have also removed the CMOS battery and reset the RTC RAM and replaced the CMOS battery.
You got the A8N32 at Fry's, or the A8N SLI Deluxe ?
What is the exact model number of your memory? Is it Value select Corsair?

thats the reason I was thinking about going to the 4400+...I saw some benchmarks online that said that the extra cache does make a difference in gaming and the benchmark results showed it (although not by a wide margin over the 3800+)

heres one of those benchmarks...

"In terms of the Athlon 64 X2 Toledo vs. Manchester battle, many of the high-end games did bring out a larger performance gap between the two core designs. Some games results are closer than others, but on the average, the advantage of the Athlon 64 X2 4800+/4400+, compared to the Athlon 64 X2 4600+/4200+, exists mostly in the high-end gaming arena."

More L2 cache has allways made a difference in gameing.
A Barton was faster than an XP at same clocks.
A Pentium is faster than a Celeron, {yes even back in the PIII days}

In games that easly run 100 FPS then you probly wont notice the difference. But in games like FarCry, and FEAR even with big clocks and high end VC you still need every FPS you can muster if you want Super high IQ, and big resalutions.

BIOS problem

I just got this board the day before Thanksgiving installed everything and all was going perfect until I flashed the 805 BIOS. I flashed the BIOS in Windows using ASUS's BIOS update. Installed without a problem, got the screen telling me to reboot. Now system will not boot. Will not display anything on the screen, will not beep. I cleared the memory removing battery and switching jumpers for 3 hours, no go. I removed the memory and the systems beeper goes off when trying to reboot. I removed the video card and the floppy drive seems to be searching for something when I do this.
I need a solution ASAP. What happened?
