LOL. Thanks. Core speed needs to be at least 750MHz to have a chance. Hoping to run 750/650 or something close to that. My card will probably end up looking something like the pic below before the week is out.

Those are some serious clocks man. I know a few people have pushed the 800 mark or slightly past it on the Core, but still...

If things work out, I may eventually buy a phase change cooler for my card. I'm going to be borrowing someone else's cooler for this run. Hopefully my card will survive.

Yes and hope that sweet lil FX chip survies too. The main thing I've heard the Vapo lacks in a good long term condensation seal. I know two people that used the Vapo before the LS, and had a coupla pins on their P4's corode compleatly off.

And I know one of them forsure used that nasty goop in the CPU socket.

I look foward to hearing what you think of the Vapo's sealing system SB.

Thanks Blue. You're thinking of the silicone compound (pic below). Yeah, it's messy. But I hate seal string. It's a PITA to remove. Hopefully the LS won't mess up my CPU.

Yep thats the stuff, you'll never catch me useing any of that goop...yuck...

Seal string is a breeze to me, great stuff.

All I'm trying to get across is take cair you can make $800 back easy...finding another super chip, is a bit difficult.

Appreciate the warning, Blue. This LS has a custom block. I'll be giving the Giga board another go, this time with more voltage. I'll say one thing about the A8V. I've put it thru a lot of abuse and it's still running fine, aside from the LAN chip that I fried myself. lol

Yeah, Giga 939 again. Different board than the one I used before. Will probably try to run VDimm at 3.5-3.6v. Will also probably test BH-5 along with the 3700EB. I've squeezed as much as I can out of the A8V. I need more voltage. But who knows. May end up coming back to the A8V.

No subzero cooling here, but I did receive my Zalman cooler today. Hopefully, will be able to lower temps 10c but we will see! I will report back to this thread when I get it up again.

I got the cooler installed, and it looked like it dropped 10c like I hoped. I will push tonight for 2.4 ghz. Currently @ 2.33. Wish me luck.

Smile

Hello this is my first post.

I wanted to say that this is one amazing thread though I have a hard time keeping up and understanding everything. I have however learnt a lot and I thank you all.

I do have an Asus A8V Deluxe Rev 1.02 and I got the locks going by installing bigtoe's 1005.021 bios (found out of course by reading this thread).

My system currently has a A64 3800+ (though reading this thread makes me wish I had the FX-53) and am using OCZ Premier PC3200 DDR400 2.5-3-3-7 2x512 memory.

I was wondering if the memory I had was a good choice for my system especially looking down the road if I ended up upgrading to an FX-55. I haven't been able to OC the 3800 much cause of the locked multiplier but I just wanted to make sure I was putting together the best system I could. I still have a hard time understanding memory timings and and ratings and what would be best for my system and most compatible with the A8V.

Thanks for any suggestions you can make!
