the new bios to the board.

Good luck; and let us know how it goes....

Well new Beta Bios apeared on the webbie 1013.005 will try to see if it runs the divider and 1T command properly now. I hope it's more stable then the beta 12 because that one gave some weird slowdowns besides the known bugs ( that's probably why they call it a beta lol)

Well it's good to see they're at least working on it, since there hasn't been a peep about the 1012 for a couple of weeks now. Please post your test results.

Thanks,
Duke

When I tried to grab it I got the mega service unavailable message over and over again. Something is really fooked at ASUS webbie. I'm also glad they are working on 1013, 1011 and 1012 aren't up to the reputation of this mobomaker

does seem a bit strange that Asus would jump the numbering to 1013, when 1012 was never even released as a final. The Asus website has been a disaster for years now, when it comes to downloading.....

A8V Deluxe 1013.005 beta

Holy crapness, Asus turned their download site into an IE only zone... With Firefox the page was almost blank.

Besides that, I was able to download the latest beta Bios, which strangely didn't show up on any of the Asus FTPs i know, from the chinese mirror.

Direct link is: asus * com * cn/pub/ASUS/mb/socket939/a8v-deluxe/1013-005.zip (looks like the board doesn't like URLs. had to alter the address a bit)

Didn't flash the Bios yet tho, so i can't say if its worse or better than the last 1012.002
Quite a jump in rev. number indeed... looks like the 1012 line wasn't all that great and they skipped it totally in terms of official bios releases. Happened to the 1010 as well i think.

I'm happy to report, after flashing the 1013.005 beta, that the 1T Command Rate bug finally has been solved. Set 2T Command Rate to "Disabled" in Bios and my system actually booted up using 1T.

Okee firs ttests done, indeed it boots with 1t Command rate but for me memory performance needs some serious tinkering. Can you test with eg Everest home edition what memory performance you are getting

here are my results :
Read 4843Mb/s
Write 2317MB/s
Latency 46.5ns

My Abit AV8 was around 6000 in read, Write 2600MB/s so this still isn't perfect hence the name Beta ofcourse

Memory used is corsair 3200XL at 2-2-2-5 timings, 2T disabled at 2.8 volts, memory at limit 2/1 DDR 400

Gonna run memtest now for a few hours to see if this one is stable.

Laterzzz

Here are my findings. I used Everest v2.0.327 to bench the ram.

1013.005
Muskin 1T 2.0-3-2-6
read: 5422mb/s
write: 1702mb/s
latency: 53.3ns

1012.002 BIOS
Mushkin 1T 2.0-3-2-6
read: 5484mb/s
write: 1830mb/s
latency: 52.5ns

I used a64tweaker to get 1T in 1012.002. Settings were: voltage "auto", ram fsb divider at auto also. So yeah, the new Bios seems to be slower.

I'm having a small problem with my board that's similar to one other people have reported. I've had my board for about a month now, and twice now, I've turned the system on to get a "CMOS Checksum Error". When I go into the BIOS to reset everything, I find that certain settings have been reset to the default:

SATA controller set to enabled (I disable it)
RAID controller set to enabled (I disable it)
Parallel Port disabled
Game port disabled
Cool'n'Quiet disabled (I enable it)
Floppy set to 1.44MB 3.5 drive (I don't use a floppy)

Once I change these to the right settings, everything's fine. Everything else is recognized correctly and everything works fine.

What would cause this? I would change the battery, but I'm not sure if it's worth it - it seems like it's only certain settings that get reset. The CPU setting, clock, date - all stay set correctly. It's just the above devices.

So should I change the battery, or flash the BIOS, or maybe try another board? Like I said, it's only happened twice in the last month, and I use the system every day, so it's not a huge deal. I just want to get it fixed before it becomes a bigger problem.

My specs:

AMD Athlon 64 3500+ (not overclocked)
A8V Deluxe Motherboard
1GB Corsair PC3200 Memory
Seagate 40GB HD
Maxtor 120GB HD
Lite-On DVD-ROM Drive
Lite-On DVD-RW Drive
eVGA Geforce 6800GT Video Card
Hercules Digifire 7.1 Sound Card
Antec TruePower 430W power supply
Windows XP w/SP2

I'm not overclocking and everything is set to default speeds and voltages. Thanks for any help!

What bios are you currently running ? and what type of Corsair ram are you using ( value select ram , XMS C2, XMS XL,...) ? Bios 1009 is the most stable around , you don't need 1011 only if you are going to upgrade to E core CPU's but this ain't the case.

Your write and Latency look good, don't know why your read isn't in the middle to high 6000's. With 1009 Bios I get read at 6732. I am pushing my ram as far as it will go.

According to Asus Probe, my BIOS version is 1010.003. The memory I've got is Corsair's XMS TwinX1024-3200PT memory.

With that Bios i had ocassional coldboot errors, telling me that overclocking failed, tho i didn't overclock. Might be related to the issue you had. Those booterrors disappeared since 1011 and are gone with 1013.005 as well of course.
