It's not your fault the Biosses from 1011 on ( to support the newer Venice and San Diego core CPU's ) all have memory divider problems this includes also the 1014 release. At least they got the 1T command working and the voltages correct now. Nothing you can do mate than to wait till 1015 comes out or a pre-release beta that cures the divider problem

yeah, asus has been having a lot of problems with their bios's lately. especially with all the memory issues. you'll have to wait.

I should have no problem running at stock though right?

Looking forward to 1015 BIOS also

I just upgraded to the San Deigo core 3700 and am trying to get the best oc with the G.skill 550 (2x512) ram. Best stable (no real mem test done yet) with out reboot is:
HTT 800
FSB 238-240 (very stable around 230-235)
cpu multi 11 (2.55-2.6Ghz area) temps at load around 43c at 1.5v
mem timings at 5/3 divider (333) are 2-2-2-6 1t, 2.8v
and in the area of 6000MB/sec on Everest

I was hoping for more out of this cpu/mem combo (like maybe stable 2.65-2.7 Ghz with ram closer to the DDR550 potential) so Im hoping for a fix in the new bios.
I also need to put a fan over the mem like I saw in some of the other posts.

Thanks to all of yall on these fourms, I have been able to get the A64 tweeker settings and the Bios settings for the ram to what seems to be working really well.

I have learned a lot from reading/studing yalls results.
I will try to attach some screens of my settings/results. Looking forward to Everest showing my ram at 4400 instead of 3500DDR.
I guess my timings will need to be looser to get more fsb, but even with 2.5-3-3-7 (the rating of the ram at 277mhz DDR550) i only get up to about the same 235 FSB even with HTT to 600 and multiplier at 10, with ram 2:1 DDR400.
(Rambling on now, sorry) Still having fun tweeking, only had to clear cmos one time thank God.
Sorry, cant figure out how to get images attached, insert image button gives me a message "script prompt, enter text to be formatted"

Alright! I finally got my X2 3800+ yesterdy and have my baby up and running. I have to tell you folks, i am blown away with this cpu. I know theres not many multi-threaded applications out yet, but this thing just rips through everything i throw at it. I did a bit of overclocking last night. Heres my findings so far. Keep in mind that i am not going higher untill i get a xp-90 for this baby. I played wow for 4 hours nps, some RTCW ET and HL2 to test 3d stability.

2.35 ghz on air (235x10)
PDP Patriot 3200+XBL (2 x 512) 2-3-3-6 2.7v
memory 1t
asus a8v delux rev2 (1014 bios)

At this speed both cores are prime stable. I stopped going higher because i noticed my load temps are hitting 48c (i just wanna be safe you know)

The only thing that puzzles me is that in everest my read and writes are pretty low. I also get Evaluation instead of a test score on some of the tests. Also on the charts my memory is reported at pc1800. I go into the system part of everest and it shows my memory is running at 235mhz with 1T etc. Dont know what it could be. Ill post more when my new heatsink gets here.

Last but not least........... should i slap another gig or ram into this sucka. I thought from previous reading on forums, that this MB doesnt like using the 4 slots at once. Someone please let me know your experiences. Thanks!!!

Count23,
I have used 4 sticks at once of ocz 3500 ram and you have to go to 2t command to use 4 sticks. I read a thread on another forum where a guy went into this long deal about the cycles and stuff of the ram on the A8V board with 2 sticks vs 4 and he showed the different benchmarks of slower times by a few percent with 4 sticks. I personally saw only a small improvement in smoothness durring gameplay on Lock On Moder Air Combat and seemed to load the maps/textures a little faster.
Probably not worth the $180-200 on more ram unless you just got the money to spend.

Just got 2GB of OCZ 3200 Platnium to put in my system. Has same timing as the Patriot mem I have in there now. Will let everone know how they clock after I find time to install them.

Hi guys, I have a a8v rev 2.0 mobo with bios 1014 (the new one?) and a x2 3800.

System works fine and everything but it wont post if I up my vcore past 1.350 ..

I dont know why it does this it just wont post until I reset cmos and stay at stock voltage.

Anyone else seen this problem?

Hi , when i had a A8V myself and a 3200+ processor i encountered this particular problem myself..
If i had the 1012 Bios it worked like a charm but after that the processor didn't want to overvolt itself anylonger after bios 1013..

My advice is to back up a notch and use the 1012 bios..

Don't think that 1012 supports X2 though but when time comes flash to later bios and don't overclock, then exchange your CPU and your set. Because i strongly believe that 1013 and above is working perfectly with X2's..

Doh!!

Should've read further, saw that you already HAD an X2 processor..
Well for that matter i'm not really sure.. You have to look at Asus homepage at CPU support for your particular motherboard... Then you'll see minimum bios version for your CPU... Sorry for not reading up at first..

hheh dont worry about it man I could've done that research I literally dug this motherboard from a box of old computer parts, fans, and lights. I figured I broke a resistor off or something yanking it out lol. I now remember why I switched a nf3 board from this one.. the onboard lan will drop the lan connection after 2 mins of usage heh. Other than that and the vcore bug it runs great for my file server.

Unhappy

Hi there.

A stupid question: I'm planning on buying Asus A8V (should I go for Deluxe?)
with a San Diego 4000+ CPU, SATA HDD and 2 gigs of RAM. I will NEVER EVER overclock: please, tell me which BIOS should I download (and where? I would appreciate a link). As you can see, I would need a safest and nicest version of bios, just to get this rig work fine and be dependable. Also, any issues with 2 gigs of RAM? - I heard that it should be ... singlesided ... to work fine, or what?

thx in advance!
