I had a long talk with an engineer at OCZ today try to figure out what the fastest ram would be on this board. Basically it's sort of a toss up between the Samsung 4's and the stuff you are getting. The thing is that the Samsungs don't really improve with more than 2.85v. the EB's are now using Micron chips and may take more voltage, but they both don't hold 2-2-2 for long. It is better to shoot for 2.5-2-2 if you can. the 2nd two #'s are far more important in re: to bandwidth. So maybe I'll end up keeping the Mush BH5's in, I don't know. Was it mscpza said 260 1-1 (not 2-1) was giving him good results. i'm going to try the Abit AV8 this weekend to see if it works any different.

Gigabyte says the 250-939 should start shipping here around the end of the month, so one more option coming.

I apologize for double posting this. Didn't see this thread...

Will my zalman 7000cu work with this motherboard? Will it require modification or is it going to be easy to mount? Thanks

The A8V, SK8V & SK8N all have similar mounting brackets. I've never used a Zalman on an A64 system. But this old post might be helpful to you.

For what it's worth, this is what Mr. Bennett has top say about Asus's VIA locks.
http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?p=1026190311

The "problem" with the K8T800Pro is not a hardware problem, it was a documentation problem. The feature was not in the dev kit that was given out to motherboard builders. So now, all the motherboard builders are going back and putting the AGP/PCI lock in. Asus will require a hardware change, but it looks as though ABIT will not. My VIA boards have been AWESOME when it comes to stability although there are some other issues that need to worked on before prime time, but that should all about be done now.

As for the NF3 Ultra boards, the only one I have had that worked right was the Ref sample. I got the MSI board out again last night but I could not get an OS on it. This was NOT a production motherboard, but rather and engineering sample.

So all in all, the boards are coming and I think there are going to be great products on all sides of the fence. We did have our ref sample NF3 Ultra up to 300MHz FSB.

I love how he says it's not a hardware problem, but that the Asus board will require a hardware change. I don't think this is the final word on the issue. Anyway, my board seems to be working fine. I'm hoping the RAM I ordered will help kick the system into overdrive.

I understand Blue, and I appreciate your passing that information along. I just think Kyle Bennett needs to take some writing classes.

Then again Op spoke with abit and they told him that the early K8T800 Pro chipsets had a AGP lock problem but the latest revisions are suppose to be better.

Good luck with the Abit board. I love my NF7-S. It's been rock solid for over a year. I'm going to stick with the A8V for now. I seem to be having fewer problems than some other people. The Gigabyte looks nice, but I'll let someone else be the guinea pig on that one.

Several places including Mwave and Zipzoomfly have the A8V in stock. Mwave has the lowest price I've seen: $148.

Newegg doesn't show the regular A8V anywhere, just the 'Deluxe-WiFi' version.

But similar results can be achieved at a much lower FSB (HTT) using tighter timings. This is 221X12 @ 2-2-2-5 1:1
