Monarch Computer. It cost a little more at Monarch than Newegg. But if I had ordered from the egg, I would have had to pay a lot of California sales tax.

By the way, I'm wondering what happened to Jason. He has both the A8V and AV8. Earlier this week, he was on another forum vowing to own all of the benching records. Haven't heard anything.

I have a 3800+ that should be here at the end of next week.. What do you guys think right now about the motherboard situation? Is it worth getting the a8v right now or should I wait for either a later revision or for some other boards to come out? I'd hate to have my CPU sitting there unused but if it's a bad idea to get anything right now I'm willing to wait a couple weeks.

Hard to say on the A8V. Some people have had bad experiences, but others like me are having hardly any problems. I think flashing to the latest beta BIOS has helped a lot on the Asus board. The nForce3-250Gb mobos could also be good. Someone on another forum has an engineering sample of the Gigabyte 939 board. It seems to overclock okay. The nForce boards should be out by the end of the month.

What do you think of that xbitlabs link regarding supposed "instability" problems with the 250?

Hey this abit av8 aint half bad. (asside from being the thinest layer board I have ever seesn, but . . ) way more bios options re: voltages, (like 6 different things to set volktages on) monitoring and mem stuff. Only thing is 1str release bios Multi's are greyed out. Locks work though. I'll see how it goes later.

The multi's are greyed out? That's not good. What's the maximum VCore on the Abit board?

Riptide, I don't know what to tell you about nForce3. The Anandtech review I read shows it's a good chipset, though not any faster than VIA's K8T800 Pro. Right now, VIA dominates the A64 market. A lot of benching records were set with the SK8V and the old K8T800 non-Pro chipset. And the SK8V doesn't even have an AGP/PCI lock. As is the case with almost any new technology, there are going to be bugs. So we who choose to be early adopters are always taking risks. If you want to play it safe, wait a few months until it all gets sorted out.

I'm tempted to go with the abit and see what happens. I hope it's stable out of the box if I don't try to overclock with it.

Thanks, Blue. I'm almost up to 2800MHz now. And the FedEX guy just delivered the OCZ 3700EB I had ordered.

Does your system pass prime95? I know someone w/fx53 & a8v and their system won't pass prime95 runs. No o/c either..
