I have to go to work soon, so I don't have time to bench and grab a screenshot. I think I get around 1 min 15 secs for SuperPI 2M @ 252-253 with the CPU at around 2.67GHz. I was hoping for better. Actually I can run at 252-253 without a divider. I was at 253X10.5 running 1:1 last night. Rock stable. But my goal is to run above 2.7GHz, 3D stable, 24/7. I think I'll be able to do that. Once I find a way to get more VDimm, that SuperPI time will drop. OPP has 3500EB running at 3.4v I think. His sticks can do 270-280.

By the way, my X800XT just arrived. But it figures that it came right as have to go to work.

I am stuck having to hold out until comp gets something in the store video card wise. I just can't see paying $500 when I can pay $40 plus trade-in. So I wait and wait . .

I did a bunch of reading this afternoon, and SB I think you allready did...because looks like your right as rain about the OCZ-EB working well all across the A64 platform.

I think I'll get some of this OCZ EB stuff. Only OCZ EB I could find localy was at Fry's and it's anly PC3200..

Think the 3700 is that much better ?

You'll probably get a higher overclock with 3700EB, maybe 10MHz higher on the RAM. The one thing to be aware of is that the EB sticks get hot. A fan pointed at the RAM is almost a must. If the sticks get too hot, you will start seeing heat-related errors during benching. Excaliberpc has both the 256 and 512 modules.

SB, so what's the final verdict on the 3700EB's. Do you have 2x512 now? Are they the best for the 939 boards?

I should be getting the 512's today. I like the fact that I can run EB at 252-253 all the time with no problems. But I'm still working on trying to run above 2.7GHz stable 24/7. Need more VDimm. I think the 3700EB is a little better than BH-5. Running Cas3 seems to work well. Cas2.5 doesn't make much of a difference. The only major negative is that the EB sticks run hotter than BH-5.

I have some coming too. Ryan says that they take voltage very well. Normal 250's 3-2-2-5 timings should be better than 2-3-3 or 2.5-3-2. they do need a fan over them.

I haven't tried 3-2-2-5 yet. 3-2-2-10 seems to work well. As I mentioned earlier, switching to 2.5-2-2-10 doesn't seem to make much of a difference.

Hi all... I just put together an FX53 system with an Asus A8V. I'm coming from an Intel world so I'm experiencing difficulty overclocking. I have the latest BIOS installed from Asus's website, but I don't think the AGP/PCI lock is functioning. I have OCZ PC4000 dual channel gold but I can't get the system to boot past 220 MHz FSB/HTT (no matter what multiplier I use). What settings should I be adjusting when attempting an overclock? With Intel I just changed the FSB and kept the memory at 1:1. I could get to 255 MHz FSB with my old P4 2.8, but not so with AMD. Thanks for any help!

BTW - where can I find bigtoe's BIOS for this board?

Bigtoe's beta BIOS (1005.021) can be found at bleedinedge.com. You have to register to gain access to the BIOS. 1005.021 will give you the AGP/PCI lock option. A64's overclock differently than the P4's. You don't necessarily need a high FSB, especially with the FX, because you have a full range of multipliers. Many benchmarking records set with FX processors, were achieved with a FSB (it's called HTT for A64's) of 240 or lower. If you want to run 1:1, make sure Memclock is set to Limit and then choose the option 2:1 DDR400.

Thanks for the reply... out of curiosity, what would be the best settings to get ~2650 cpu speed, and 500 MHz DDR speed? Also, as long as the CPU is running cooler than 50c, is 1.8v too much? I cringe at that voltage, but it seems many run that high (vs. Intel where anything over 1.7 is considered suicide). Thanks.

I am using OCZ 3700EB which can go up to 250-253MHz (DDR500) @ 1:1 with only 2.8v. And that's with timings of 3-2-2-10. I've also tried BH-5 sticks which are great for tight timings, but there's no way they can hit 250 @ 1:1 using stock voltage. I have heard Corsair PC3200LL (CH-5) also works well in 939 systems, especially with VDimm mods.

I would not recommend VCore of 1.8v with air cooling. I run at 1.8, but I have a water block.

Hmmm... my Intel box was watercooled, but it developed a leak so I thought I'd try air again. I'm using that new Tower112 from Thermaltake. Right now at 1.775 and 2.5 GHz I'm running 38c (I can get it down to 34c if I turn the fans on full). Full load seems to be around 46c measured with the latest Asus Probe.
