SB, what cpu temps are you getting at various o/c speeds? My temps are abouit 4-5 deg over the FX53/940.

With VCore at 1.775-1.8v, my idle temp is around 38C and low to mid 40's under load. That's with the CPU running around 2.65-2.7GHz. It definitely runs hotter than my SK8V/FX-51. But I'm not sure if the board or the CPU is responsible for the higher temps.

I'll start a A8V thread and have a moderator combine it with this one. I'll have more time to do that a little later tonight. I want to collect some info for the initial post.

I'm getting 51 deg (med load) at 228x11.5 1-1. Vcore 1.775-1.8. Way higher than same on sk8v. Maybe I need to reseat. This particular fx53 seems a bit flakey. I may need to rma it. Is your oem or retail and where did you get it from.

Mine is an OEM and I got it from Monarch Computer. Is that 228X11.5 at 2-2-2-5?

I haven't tried 2-2-5 yet. Right now it's 2-3-2-5-1 2.8v. I may try the cmod again, but I ma afraid that is what caused the other board to fail. Maybe not. I just don't think my cpu is as good as my last 53. I'll see. I may switch at the egg. It was a retail. So right now this is about where I ran the sk8v. Haven't done alot of testing for stability yet. It's fun to play with as long as it doesn't break.

Maybe I need to re-seat the block. I mounted it differently.

Newegg's prices are cheaper for the FX53. But because I live in California, I would have had to pay a lot of state sales tax. It was a little cheaper for me to get it at Monarch.

As I mentioned at XS, if I could get 230HTT at 2-2-2-5, I'd be really happy. My BH-5 sticks need more juice. I'm very interested in the VDimm device that OCZ is coming out with.

Okay, it's quiz time. The subject is FSB (HTT) vs. timings. Can you guess which of the following will have the fastest time in Pifast.

267X10
5:3 divider
2-3-2-5

232X11.5
1:1 sync
2-3-2-5

222X12
1:1 sync
2-2-2-5

All three are running at about the same clock speed. The answer is in the attachments below:

that doesn't surprise me. I'm gonna try to keep the tight timings 1-1 and so far I'm at 228x11.5 2-3-2-5-1 at 1000htt but vdim and vcore max are making my cpu load at 52 deg. Jigher than sk8v/f3 ever ran on the same cooler, but at .5 v lower. I had a little burning mishap when I tried to hook up the vdim mod, but everything seemed ok after I removed it. Maybe it isn't exactly the same as the sk8v. I'l have to check into it again.

I hope this board becomes the AMD equivalent of the P4P800 I've been running in terms of acceptance and understanding. Keep this thread rocking and by the time I am ready to swap you guys will have every nuance down cold. Good luck!

a total range of 0.47 secs between the 3 settings? pretty insignificant imho.

I talked to one of the moderators. He will merge this thread with the other one that has a similar name.

A few observations about this board. As xgman mentioned in another thread, the A8V/FX-939 combo does seem to run hotter than SK8V/FX-940. About 6 degrees hotter in my case. My idle temp is around 38C with watercooling and mid-40's under load. Also, my board is the so-called Wireless Edition and comes with the 802.11g WiFi card and antenna. I haven't tried it out yet.

Are you going to try the vmod? I haven't given up on that yet.
