| BIOS Update Help I have Asus A8N32SLI-Deluxe with BIOS version 1009. I wanted to update it to the latest version 1025, but this is impossible since using AFUDOS, I obtain an reading file error just after 1% of reading. I've downloaded the zipped file from other site, opened with WinRAR and tried again from another diskette, but the same results. Even more interestingly, when I try to use Asus Update, my mouse freezes. I'm using Windows XP Pro SP2. Thanks in advance for any help. Adam |

| Does your floppy drive work correctly? Try a different one if you have an old one laying around

| Have you tried the latest Afudos ( funny is they posted 2 new ones 19 and 21 version ) or Asusupdate version and not the ones from the cd (they could be the same but please check the version). With Asusupdate do the update of the program first Also your bios is 1205 not 1025. You can try to download the bios update from another source ( try eg Europe) and save it to another path. ( sometimes it happens that some data goes corrupt ) Also have you tried flashing from within WinXP in Safe mode ? Does the Asusupdate work there ? http://dlsvr01.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/...sUpdt61002.zip http://dlsvr01.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/flash/AFUDOS221.zip Also I would verify if your ram is okay do a memtest http://www.memtest.org/download/1.65...+-1.65.iso.zip and see if there are any errors. ( do this for several passes )

| ok, afudos is messed up. I recently had to flash with it and it was a PITA. First, get the Dr. Dos Basic boot disk from www.bootdisk.com, make the floppy. If you have any issues with it, as in unreadable sector errors etc. get a new floppy, as you will have a corrupt disk. ( http://motherboards.mbarron.net/download/drdflash.exe is one mirror) Then copy afudos.exe and the .rom file on to the floppy. I like to rename the bios file so there is no trucations (the ~ and removing chars). so "rename A8N321~1.rom 1205.rom" then EXACTLY as i type "afudos /i1205.rom" If that gives you a file read error try "afudos /i1205" its CRITICAL there is NO space, quote or other dilemeter between /i and the file name Also, i have had bad experiences with Windows Based flashing utilities, so i would personally advise against them. If your flash went ok, then dont bother reflashing

| you can also download the file manually from Asus Download webpage, and then use file from the Asusupdate win utility. Indeed Dos is safer but if you have a bad floppy Bios can get corrupt to. I always unpack the bios file on HD ( if it's Fat32) and install from there... till now zero issues with Win updates not on my Asus nor Abit mobo's. Thing after the bios flash is to set all to defaults and then reboot.

| if you use that floppy image for Dr. Dos, it checks the floppy. The flashing app also has its own file verifacation mechanisms
