You might as well sell the redline if you are going to get an asus board heh. asus is fine for a mainstream user but for an enthusiast and OCer nothing can touch DFI, no matter what problems people report.

The release of the NF4 DFI boards was huge in the OCing world, however I agree with Blue, the DFI is not for everyone.

BIOS changes can cause strange things with the DFI boards. A number of people who flashed to a new BIOS, and then flashed back to the old one, have found their old overclock wasn't stable anymore. I doubt it is a RAM problem.

This is one reason why I don't flash to new BIOS's that often. Generally if I find one that works, I'll stay with it. 217 doesn't have all the bells and whistles of some of the later BIOS's, but I've had good luck with it. Works with TCCD, BH-5 and Micron chips.

This is not overclocking-related, but I'm looking for opinions on big (23-24") LCD monitors. I may upgrade later in the year. The ones listed below are under consideration. This is not for gaming. I just want a monitor with more real estate. If you know of other good ones, feel free to chime in.

Dell UltraSharp 2405FPW
ViewSonic VP231wb
HP 2335

Yea I watched for like two months and one day Dell had a 25% off and gotapex had another stackable coupon that made the 2005FPW like $438 shipped, I bit the bullet, heck you cant hardly get a good 20" CRT for that
So it's worth it to watch got apex and waite for Dell stuff IMO.

To what extent though? Going from DDR626 stable to having to overvolt the RAM to achieve stock speed with only a few Mhz room for OC is quite an extreme change. 50 Mhz loss.

I hope it is BIOS related but I can't see how it can be. I tried 3 BIOS (0702-1, 0623-1, and 0618-1) all with the same result. Nothing stable under 3v. Before the problem I have used 6-8 different BIOS with 0618-1 being the best by a few Mhz but all other -1 after 0510 being fine for DDR600+.

I am quite interested in seeing what OCZ gets when they test the RAM. Either the RAM is dying, my MB is dying, or I am an idiot and forget how to OC hehe

I just upgraded from a 17 inch lcd to a 19 inch heh and I am happy as hell. Sold the 17 and got the 19 for $100 more than what I sold the 17 for. I think it was $100 well spent. The 19 also has alot better contrast ratio, can see the difference in BF2.

I think you know how to OC. What I'm trying to say is that the new BIOS settings may not fully take, even if you use the preferred method of flashing (killing power for ten minutes, etc.). I've just seen too many instances of this happening for it to be a fluke.

An explanation of what each switch does can be found here. Just scroll down to the middle of the page.
