Just worked for me as well. I just needed more sleep to find it. Hate being sick and actually working harder then usual on top of it all. The board has been successfully flashed to 310. I have also downloaded the latest nF drivers from DFI's site. I'm stickin' with DFI for the software since this is not my 'puter I'm working on.

One thing I can say, I actually like my dual Opteron better. If only the graphics were better on my Opteron, I would probably stick with it but I might have to get the nF4 board (sucker is $565 at Monarch ) for my Opty system due to graphic problems with the AMD chipset.

Is this the one you were looking at, Tyan’s Thunder K8WE nForce4 Pro 2200, you could have the best of both worlds......Here a review....

Yup, that's the one. I could oc my 240 procs. I basically have everything for the board due to using the Thunder K8W. However, it's even better when you consider what I have in this current system.

U320 SCSI Cheetah drives
4 x 512 RAM sticks (PC3200)
Audigy 2 ZS

I would need to get a 6600 video card and the board. That's a lot of money to come up with. I'm waiting for the board to mature b4 I bite. I'm forturnately not in a rush at this time.

That's what the review said also, but the option of running 2x 6600 with sli would be nice or even 4 monitors if you hit the lotto.....

My Raptors never got hot. They just weren't put together very well. IDE drives work very well on the Ultra-D. SATA 2 will likely be fast, but expensive as well. I'd rather put my money in other components. Again, that's just me. For benching, SATA offers no real advantage.

None of the drives I've owned have ever gotten hot. Warm, yes. The real irony is that my old IBM "Deathstar" drive has outlasted all the others, even though it has the infamous ka-chinking sound. I just bought a cheap Hitachi SATA drive for another computer. Hitachi, as you know, now markets the Deskstar. The drive seems to be okay.

As far as BIOS's, I'm using 217 because it seems to work well with my memory. 310 is very similar to 217. I think DFI updated a few things in 310 that I don't really care about.

On of the DFI guys, I forget who, said in response to someones questions about bthe differences in the bios revisions, that the first series of release bioses are generally the best performance wise, and the further out you go is mostly for ram and other hardware compatability and looses some of the original performance tweaks. there is probably a good deal of truth in that.

What I find funny is when you know all that was changed in any given bios or driver revision is something really stupid that doesn't have anything at all to do with preformance and you see all these guys reporting how much better or worse the performance is thinking there have been secret tweaks made, when it is exactly the same. Some engineer somewhere snickering at all this.

If they read the first post, they'll learn a lot. Also, you can use the search function to find specific posts.

Have you ever taped a temp probe to your drives then installed them in your case, put the side panel on and ran Oh say sandras drive bench ??

My Raptor must be put togather differently than the ones you've had, because laying out on a table top with a room temp of 27c it idles at 34c and under usage hits 45c...which by the way is very close to what WD clames to be it's max operating temp of 50c And installed in the case with a fan blowing on it, when Doom3 is loading a new map I've seen 56c from it, thats with a ambeint inside case temp of 37c
