My suggestion is that if you need a new mobo and you don't overclock or tweak, then you probably don't need DFI.
Good luck to you!
Tried one stick at a time and got nothing, and unfortunately I don't have access to another graphics card at the moment, the one my roommate has isn't supported by my board. I "was" going to overclock and tweak my system but I never got around to it and wanted to wait until I had more time on my hands to sit and play with it. I'm going to call up a few friends and see if any of them can donate a compatible graphics card for testing before I send my board off.

I love the DFI boards personally, but if you are not an enthusiast/ocer its prolly best to stick with the ASUS and such.

I agree tarrcm on the board issue, problem could be gpu related.

Yeah, I bought it with the intention of being an OC'er/enthusiast but I just didn't have the time in the last year to do anything, moving between Hawaii and the Mainland US and then around the Mainland US has been fun but exhausting, I still hope to have time to tinker but I'm going to need something stable for the next few months until that happens. I'll try to find someone with a different GPU and test it out, if not I'll RMA the board and see how that works out. I like the board and the options but I don't have the time or energy at the moment to do it the justice it deserves.

Has anyone found an after market cooler that will fit on the SLI-DR chipset?

There are sooo many posts now, i cannot seem to find an answer.

I think the fan on my OEM cooler is starting to burn out.

Thanks!!
Ken

I have tried a few. I have been searching for a while. That is the worst placement I have ever seen for the chipset. I really wish there was a nice copper one that fits. I would buy a few since I have 2 SLI-DR MBs.

I just found these:

http://www.performance-pcs.com/catal...ducts_id=20325

http://www.performance-pcs.com/catal...oducts_id=4638

http://www.performance-pcs.com/catal...ducts_id=20676

I think the 2nd one will work the best. The first one looks like it will still interfere with something and the third is too big IMO.

OK guys i need help

Im running a DFI NF4 Ultra D with 2x512mb Corsair XMS3200 (BH5) i recently purchased some OCZ VX Gold 4000 thinking all would be good. When i put all the sticks together the pc doesn't boot

Currently im running the bios from the dfi website. When i manually set all timings and put in my memory the pc boots with 1gb of ram detected, in windows then i run cpu-z it identify's 2GB of ram.

Do i have any hope of getting these 4 sticks of ram working?

tkxmoe,
it's been a while for me but if I remember correctly you won't have any luck getting Corsair to play with OCZ...the same would hold true mixing any two brands of ram.
I think there were other issues trying to use all four mem slots even with the same brand of ram with most motherboards.
It has been quite a while since I was "into it" so I may be all wrong but those are my thoughts.
Good luck with it.

OK.

I am not sure why im doing this, but i decided to remove my SLI-dr and bought an SLI-dr expert board in hopes of being able to either watercool the chipset or get an after market fan on there. I have absolutely loved this rig, by far the longest running machine i have ever owned.

My question is this. can i swap out the MB without re-loading windows? or are there changes in the chipset that would require me to put a fresh copy on it immediately?

Also, thinking about getting an opteron to replace my 4200+, you may have seen my posting in the for sale section. good idea? ive read that i may see a 5% increase. im really just looking to prolong the life of this rig another yeaar or 2. I recently bought a second 7800gtx to run in SLi mode to future proof the graphics a bit.

Thanks!
Ken

Hey KC, I'm not sure if the swap will work...been a while for me. I could try it here in a while, I still have both mobo's laid out on the desk with psu & HDD's.
Let me know if ya want me to try it for ya.

if its easy for you to test, it would be great to know. Basically if i try it an it doesnt work, I'll be down for the rest of the night. Which is not a huge deal but id rather know what to expect going in.

Thanks!
Ken

You'll love the Expert if you're into tweaking. I've forgot much because I haven't been into it in over a year.
Good luck with it Ken!

Im up and running on the expert board.

Only thing left to trouble shoot is why SLi is not available. It is detecting both cards but is not allowing me to turn on SLi. ill work on that tomorrow i guess.

Thanks for testing that for me

Ken
