nVidia's decided to go with a single chip solution for the nForce3 and unfortunately, the APU takes up a large part of the chipset logic (according to them). Also, since the workstation market doesn't need such advanced sound processing on their motherboards, it made sense (and cents) to leave it out.

There's been no word on whether or not initial nForce3 250 desktop motherboards will have this add-on card included in the package or offered as a stand alone product.

I also believe nVidia is working on another chipset for the Athlon 64 [FX]. It may or may not be a conventional North/South solution. Initial Crush K8 motherboards were featured in this manner, though..

I'll get an nForce 250 board if its faster than the Intel side of things. Probably will get a Chaintech.

Well, with no Sounstorm APU on board, at least there shouldn't be any crackling noises when clocking the FSB up real high (err, assuming is clocks higher than the NF3 150s).

I wouldn't recommend a Chaintech. My friend bought a Chaintech NF3-150 last week and it was unstable as s***. It would only run stable with 1 stick of RAM installed. Any more and it would randomly lock up or reboot. This board was NOT worth the $180 IMHO. For $180, you would be better off with the Abit KV8 Max-3 or the Asus K8V Deluxe.
