Question 2005 system infection poll

How many times in 2005 did your system get infected with a virus or adaware?

If your virus checker popped up a warning and it was cleaned right away - it does not count. Only count a virus, rootkit, adware, etc... that took some extra effort or even a format to get your system clean.

I had nothing big. But, then again, I don't visit pr0n sites so I guess I don't have to really worry about it.

None here. My router takes care of the firewall bit and my Virus scans are few and far between.
BTW did a scan before posting...nothing detected
come to think of it, in ten years of being on the internet I have yet to get a virus. My luck seems to be boundless.

The only thing infecting my system is Windows. I guess this proves I really didn't need SP2.

Something snuck in when I was doing the initial install on my new game rig.

Reformatted and installed to SP2 off network and used my Powerbook to download all the updated drivers along with programs ZA, AVG & Spybot. Burned those to CD and installed from there. Once everything activated did the MS update for the gazillion updates past SP2.

Fort Knox here. Even though I always have more than one secure rig running, I started using nLite recently.

http://www.nliteos.com/nlite.html

I've been keeping track of, and downloading, all updates since SP2 and integrate them to make a new installer CD every month nowadays. Works really good if you don't get carried away with all it's features. Even so, I tend to keep whichever PC I'm installing on completely off the network until I have all my security related software installed.

In all the years I've been into computers, I've only gotten one virus that I'm aware of. This was back in 2003 or there abouts and was completely my fault. My curiosity got the better of my common sense.

Fort Knox babeh! Great thing is I didn't even need to put much effort into keeping it that way, just careful browsing habits and such.

I'm an only-child, and the only computer user here.

It'll suck when I'm older I think.
