| Backing up our server Hi all, I work for a small business of about 5 employees. Unfortunately, I'm the most technologically-savvy of the staff...which isn't saying much. As such, I've been asked to back up our server, something that has NEVER been done. I do back up my personal laptop regularly, but have never done so on a server before. I was wondering if anyone could give me the best method to do so, i.e. DVD burner, external hard drive, etc. Our server is used almost exclusively for data storage. We run about 2 programs off the server, but no e-mail. If anyone can give me some advice on how to back it up without somehow frying it, I'd GREATLY appreciate it. Thanks! |

| Re: Backing up our server Well, backing up a server is really a big thing. To back up a server it's better if you use an Externel HDD.

| Re: Backing up our server If it is a windows server, it has a limite backup utility included. You can type "ntbackup" at the command line. If you are doing a one-off snapshot, an external HDD would work.
