| Decrypt? On reinstalled Op System Following a crash I had to reinstall XP Pro. My encrypted files (XP encryption) on another partition are inaccessable. Is there a way to reclaim the files? Thanks, MM |

| Hi! First of all, ouch. Second, I really, really hope you are just talking about Private Folders and not EFS(XP's Encrypted File System). If it's just Private Folders, you can reset ownership of the folders and files and you're done. If they're actually encrypted and you haven't taken a backup of your recovery key, you're out of luck. Sorry. Unless of course, the computer is part of a domain, when the domain administrators can decrypt the files for you. |
