Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 coming soon

for all Kaspersky anti-virus fans out there (like me)...good news...the long awaited version 6.0 is almost here...version 6.0 is due to be released on May 15th...I had a chance to try out the 6.0 Beta and it's even better then before...faster scans, more scanning options (critical area scans, startup objects scan), 64 bit compatible, slightly different GUI...and as long as you have a valid paid key for 5.0 you can upgrade to 6.0 for free for the length of your remaining subscription period...

for anyone that wishes to try the Beta 6.0 version just visit the Kaspersky website below and download....look in the ActCodes.txt file to get the activation key code (choose one of the 3 codes available under "Not for Resale" and KAV)...I'm using version 6.0.0.297g as some of the later betas were very unstable on my system

I had the 5.0 trial version but it was giving me problems with my Kerio firewall. Maybe i will check this new version.

Thanks i will try the 6.0 version when is out. Im using the Avast free version, it takes around 40-45MB of my ram. NOD32 only took 16MB, but i want to see how much Kaspersky will take.

Actually I was about half way through installation of the 6 beta when it asked me to uninstall the incompatible software called (get this) Kaspersky Anti-Hacker!! I am using version 1.8 of the Anti-hacker and couldn't understand why it would conflict, so I cancelled the Anti-Virus installation until further notice. Anyone else have that problem?

you could try temporarily disabling the Anti-Hacker program while installing the beta...which version of the beta did you try?

I'd have to look when I get home. They should be compatible, right? I wasn't sure if version 6 had some new feature that was going to cause compatibilities with their firewall. I couldn't imagine that being the case, but I didn't want to take a chance, especially since it is only beta software. I'll get back to you about the version.

P - are you using the Kaspersky Anti-hacker also? no problems for you?

I wanted to use version 6 but I have the server/workstation license. Hopefully they will be releasing a version 6 for me in the near future.

that's exactly what I was thinking, that's why i cancelled out of the installation. I would imagine they will come out with a new Anti-Hacker version also. Can anyone confirm this?

the "beta" 6.0.0.299 version is the final version that will be released next week...so technically it is not a beta anymore...I have been using it for a few days now with no issues at all...very stable, seems to consume much less resources as well compared to Version 5.0

you can also use your current 5.0 license key with the 6.0.0.299 version and it will automatically transfer over to this new version...
