Microsoft Windows Defender (beta2) replaces Antispyware (beta1)

Microsoft just released "Microsoft Windows Defender beta 2" replacing "Antispyware beta1": http://www.microsoft.com/athome/secu...e/default.mspx

If you encounter an "error 1609" during installation (specifically those who have an NON-ENGLISH XP version), implement following instructions:

1.- Go to: Start---->>Control Panel---->>Account Users---->>New Account))
2.- Click on Create Account.
3.- Create an account called Users (Set as Limited Account User. Don't set any password)
4.- Run the installation program of Windows Defender

What I like about this release is the ability to control what loads at startup even easier than going through msconfig and services.

It is very hard to divine that Defender replaces AntiSpyware on the MS site. However it does say that current users will be notified to upgrade. Should I wait?

I have used winantispyware & found it was porous

upgraded to beta2 - run for 2 weeks and removed - too slow and still porous

talked w/ms support/completed 3 surveys/after adjusts, still slow

I use xp os pro native english - w/ or w/o optional language packs, beta2 still slow (on otherwise fast workstation) - removed
