Question Securing Files

Hello gang I'm a newbie & computing rookie, with a question. I run a small mobile DJ business that uses laptops to DJ with. My question, is there a way of securing my files from other DJ's I hire, I have all my music & karaoke files on a laptop running windows xp home & I want to make it as difficult as possible for someone who would want to connect a external hard drive and take my files that I've collected over 10 years (from cd's.) The DJ program I use ( DJ Power ) requires a usb security key, so ports have to be operational & users have to have access to files. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated & thanks so much for your help.

Tom

I think you can use group policies to take away the copy cmd as a non admin user. As well as any rights to install software ( like a copy program).

first - I'm not sure you can do this level of security on XP home, you may need to have XP Pro or even 2003 Server...

Since the files need read only you can't stop them from copying the file.

I found this older procedure to prevent drag n drop, copy/paste commands. It may work?

another idea?

maybe encrypt the folder that the files are stored in. Then use the Run As command to run the DJ software as your log in name.
