| What do you feel about Jetico Personal Firewall From this link http://www.firewallleaktester.com/tests.php , the result is very good. It stands out clearly from the crowd. What do you think about this free (but best[?]) firewall? Does this product intervene my Windows internet connection sharing(ICS)? After all, does anyone know more websites which analyse the performance of different firewalls? I would like to read more, instead of just relying on one report only.

| Thanks for the heads-up. I'll give it a try on my test machine. So far it is showing the usual problems of learning. It gets tiresome having to do countless clicks ("remember my action") everytime I go to a different webpage. If you go to a website, say this forum, and there are imbedded images (say from ImageShack), then each every image on that page will come up with a confirmation dialogue box. Very tiresome. The other thing which I have to work around is giving my Limited / Restricted accounts write access to the log file. One thing I cannot tolerate is having to give admin rights to Limited accounts. Sometimes the aaction window doesn't give enough information as to what is going on. You'll be working and bang a window comes up asking for confirmation. What if that window is a pop up? Oh, initially you won't get FireFox access, even after hitting the okay radio button. You'll need to reboot. Then you will have access. If you have many restricted accounts you'll have to reboot for each one.

| Thanks Wai. Yeah, I've already started visiting a lot of the Jedico type forums. "Allow port 1025-5000", adding rules, Full Outbound, etc. Me, I'm still thinking of converting an older machine into a linux hardware firewall appliance. I just wish someone did it with an Apple G5, where I could throw in two NICs, disable the onboard and install Linux firewall on it. My linux firewall of choice? Smoothwall Express. btw, thanks to Jedico I found that Creative tries to always connect for auto updates. Seeing as it never worked from day 1 I decided to disable it (along with cthelper.exe) through msconfig & msconfig-clean. My problem has been that BitDefender is tryinbg to update through my limited account. Now, thanks to you, have a n idea on how to stop that from happening, although I am scared that doing so will disable it when I am using the Admin account.
