Bump! Also notice I've lost my custom moniker and a way to edit it? Plus country flag?

Aha - so it was you that diasabled the upload option! (No, I'm kidding - I remember having trouble last time I changed it too.)

You're right, the flags are gone. That's fine. But thanks, I now see the option to upload an avatar. I have to do some work on it, but you should see it in a bit.

What?? Me??

It was the permissions in your usergroup that did it. For some reason avatars and titles were disabled.
This was probably the result of an update along the way - thanks for letting us know.

Nice avatar bud...

Thanks guys! It continues with my Gandalf theme, but updated to reflect my conversion to Linux.

SupDawg!

I'll be spending some time here, getting new hardware and all. I also hope to solve some Ubuntu issues here as the forums there just aren't as responsive.

Hey buddy, glad to hear we'll be seeing more of ya. I've run Ubuntu for awhile, then got tied up by Vista. I will get back to it as soon as the Vista dust settles.

Hey!

Perhaps we should take this out of the newbie guide!

Re: AbxZone.Com Newbie Guide and FAQ

As a newbie, it would be nice if the "you can't post links" message would be a bit more informative as to how many posts I need before I can link.

Welcome to the ABxZone Forums DaveLessnau.

I think it's 100.

That's to discourage people who join forums only to advertise and post their own thing via a link and whose real intentions are other than to be a contributing member as either a member who posts questions or as a member who posts answers (or as a social member). By the time any new member makes 100 posts everyone knows who everybody is.

Don't let that stop you from posting relevent links. We all know what to do with non-hotlinks.

Re: AbxZone.Com Newbie Guide and FAQ

I think 100 was a custom title or an avatar. I think links were less than that.

You are right, a lot of rules have changed lately with little documentation.

Re: AbxZone.Com Newbie Guide and FAQ

I was finally able to post links today at either 12 or 13 posts. Thank goodness. It's really tough to ask and answer questions without links and images.
