| Calling video-philes Hiya folks I am in search of a site that reviews both plasma and lcd tv's, pro's and con's of such tv's. I have been to the obvious places, e-opinions, c-net but I am thinking there is a site just for the video type stuff but just can quite find it. If someone could point me in the right direction I would be much obliged. As always personal opinions are welcome and for those of you who "gotta know" I am looking for a tv no less than 37in and no more than 42in, 1080i a must and at least 2 HDMI connection. BTW, HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! ![]()

| Re: Calling video-philes Try "The Perfect Vision": The Perfect Vision - AVguide.com. I've never looked at it closely, but it's published by the same folks who do "The Absolute Sound" for audiophiles, with which I'm very familiar. That is one of the leading high-end audio journals, which can be quite off the wall at times and technically uninformed, but most of their writers are very perceptive listeners. If they like something, it is most probably really good, although not necessarily good value. Happy New Year to you too! -- Al |

| Re: Calling video-philes Getting close to purchase time.... just one more question. This tv will be used primarily as a "movie theater" or for "sporting events". I am strongly leaning toward the Panasonic shown Panasonic - 42" 1080p Flat-Panel Plasma HDTV - TH-42PZ700U . (used for showing model, not to say I will buy here) I do have a voice in my ear (not head mind you) asking about heat, burn in on the plasma and overall viewability of LCD's from all angles. I know in well lit sporting events this is not such a big issue but with movies I think it would matter. As always opinions are welcome.

| Re: Calling video-philes There will be plenty of heat coming out from that. My 46" LCD puts out a lot of heat. I'm not sure how it is viewing plasmas from the side but my LCD seems fine unless you go to extreme angles. |

| Re: Calling video-philes Went with a Samsung 4254 and am very happy. Went to a Best Buy type place and wanted to see the Panasonic up close and personal. Right next to it was the Samsung which is 720p with 1080i capabilities and its picture was far better than the Panasonic. Did the 100 hour burn in on Discovery HD and I am very happy. Thanks for the advice/ websites!

| Re: Calling video-philes Mrs. TQ and I just set up a 32" Sharp Aquos LCD last weekend. We'd considered a 37" model but then we would have had to replace the unit that houses all our components so we nixed that idea. Too much hassle and expense. I must say that the 32" really turned out to be the perfect size for our rather small theater room. In any case all I can say is WOW...how is it we lived this long without seeing our favorite DVD's on an HDTV? I'm still shaking my head at the awesomeness of it all...best of all using the HDMI cable to handle audio as well as video means that not only do my DVD's look better, they sound better as well. If standard DVD looks and sounds this impressive my eyes would probably fall out of my head if I saw a Blu-Ray or HD-DVD disc. (Likely Blu-Ray, since it seems it's this format that poised to win the war...)
