Cool

Why is it that when I plug Headphones into the cd rom I don't get any sound through the headphones? I get sound through the speakers and through the headphones if I plug the headphones into the sound card. I have a cusl2-c and a pci-128 soundblaster card. The cd rom is a panasonic 48x and has a headphone jack. Yes there is a cable running from the soundcard to the cdrom..Any ideas. What am I missing here.......thanks

Try this:

Reload your sound card drivers and software. If needed, remove or delete all sound related software then remove your sound card and reboot after a good reboot shut down and reinstall your sound card and let windows detect it again and install all software.

I had this no sound from CD jack headphone problem in my test bed computer, in which I had just removed an SBLP and but in a older Creative PCI sound card. I did not reinstall the older drivers at that time. I had 2 different CD/RW's I was thinking about installing in to my CUSL2-C board and mounted them in my test bed unit, to check basic operations. Neither one had sound from the CD headphone jack. At first I thought both were defective drives, could not see why there should be no sound from the CD headphone jack. I even called about getting replacements. While waiting for a reply I reloaded the older cards drivers and low and behold I had sound from the CD headphone again. Then I reinstalled the SBLP card and had the same problem with no sound in headphones. After installing SBLP software again they both had sound from the CD headphone jack. Go figure.

Just a thought.

Good Luck!

cdrom Headphones

Thanks. I managed to get it working by unchecking the digital audio in Media Player. Now I can hear music cd's using the cd-rom jack. I assume that all I will hear is an audio cd. I don't hear any game sounds in something like half-life however unless I plug into the sound card.
