| DVD problems I bought a NEC DVD +\- R/RW DL drive . It came with no installation disk. I have windows XP home. My computer won't recognize the DVD. The message says that I have to install the software. My question is " were do I get the software ?" Gramps |

| No need to install any driver, Windows should detect your dvd burner without any software. What's the Nec model you got? Are you trying to burn a dvd? if that's the problem you need to get a cd/dvd burning software program like Nero.

| Check with your local computer stores. I know some around here that sell oem Nero disks for 5$. Here is a thread that may help ... What is the best DVD writing software?

| thanks for your replies ..... Just trying to install a game and play movies ... at the moment NEC model DVD 3550A Windows xp ( not a full version ? ) the disk came with the computer when I bought it . The error message states that it can't find the software to install the hardware. Gramps |
