How do i make a single software based system

I know the description doesnt do justice to the actual question. so here goes.
I would like to make a system which when booted will open only one software. I know how to put it into the startup folder thing. But when when windws sarts up and my designated software has started up there shouldnt be anything else on the screen. No task Bar. No start button. (i know the right click and hid task bar trick but that doesnt work because when u bring the mouse to the bottom of the screen the task bar pops out again) I want now task bar. No other action. Except when you press the power button the system hibernates. Or maybe ctrl+alt+del could supersede. But i dont want the user to access anything else or even see anything else on the system. How can i achieve this ?

BartPE (or similar products) may help you accomplish something like that.

Hi Kongo > Is that a software or ??? I googeld it up. But couldnt understand what it is. They mostly talk about windows preinstalled and boot disks. Can you help me understand what it does. Or what are we trying to do here,, is this a system that supresses the entire OS into the background ?

I found this:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...5-9d770ccdb431

A suggestion is to Google "kiosk mode" and similar.

Thanks Kongo.
But will this remove even the task bar etc ? i dont see it mentioned. It only says restrict. I dont know if it wil hide start button, task bar etc. Your right we need something similar to a kiosk.

Will try google as your suggested and keep you posted.

I'm not exactly sure if I understand. But if you wanted something like the command prompt. Then you could find the shortcut and resize it.Turn off the task bar "always ontop".Then throw the command prompt shortcut into the startup folder. But then again maybe that's just me not knowing what you really want for sure.Sorry.

Re: How do i make a single software based system

Rickwell > what i want is a system which is running on windows xp. But like a kiosk machine. at your bank etc. It doesnt let you see or click anything else but my one software since this is going to be a dedicated machine used for only that one software. Like Kongo well put it. Like a Kiosk Mode. Let me put it in simple words. You switch on a system. It boots and lands up directly with photoshop being there full screen. With no other options such as a task bar or start button. Actually id be satisfied if i can just permanantly hid the task bar. I mean when your mouse goes to the bottom the task bar shouldnt pop up again. And id like to have no icons at all on the desktop. So when the user starts the system. It would show only one appliaction open and ready to go full screen. If he minimizes the application or closes it. Still he will land up only with the desktop image. But no Task Bar, My Computer, Recycle Bin icons etc.

Then the system can be restored by restarting. And it willl land back in the orginal application as mentioned above.

Install XP and it in a virtual PC and try it. That's easier than guessing.

Hi Kongo > Your right about not guessing. I however installed the minute you gave me the link. It unfortunately doesnt hid the task bar. The most evident results it provides are program restrictions. But it still looks and feels like a normal windows pc. Except that it subtracts some features and doesnt allow programs o be installed etc. Its designed more like a system administrators tool. In fact it is a sys admin tool.
