I got hooked by this title because I am just after reading this article:
Helicopter silencers used to turn all surfaces stereo

Apparently the pattern of reproducing sound might be just about to change... And as often with technology it is the army that brings the progress..
Sad, isnt it?

I find it highly amusing that it was the army's abject failure at dampening sound that led to a new speaker design. It wasn't like they set out to revolutionize the speaker industry.
