Re: I took the HDTV plunge!

That's pretty much what I was thinking. I can't imagine I'd be as stunned as I was when I watched the "club scene" from the first ten minutes of Blade.
Watching bloodsuckers get cut up in HD was amazing. We topped that the next night with "Pirates of The Caribbean: At World's End".

I had my set professionally calibrated as well...picture looks amazing on both HD and standard channels...don't know if its worth it for everyone as the price can be steep and you might be able to fine tune some settings on your own to get a really nice picture...but if you have the $$ then I definitly recommend giving it a try

Re: I took the HDTV plunge!

I just hooked up a PC based on a Asus P5N-EM HDMI to my new HDTV a Samsung LN40A530 with a 40" screen. I was surprised to see that the xvid's playing though the computer looked much better than the tests I did in the store playing from xvid's burned onto dvd's. I don't know if it's the hdmi connection or the pc.

BTW I purchased 3 ngear hdmi cables from directcanada for 13.20$ each.

Can't seem to get the TV to play the audio from the pc yet ...
I need to replug the audio wire direct to the speakers to get sound.
Must be a setting on the tv I haven't figured out yet ...
