Re: NEW: Official Creative Labs X-Fi drivers. (Non ßeta, March 14th 2008) XP & Vista

I installed these a few days ago. It is a bit confusing because, using dxdiag, it is reporting a driver version earlier than the 0004 Vista X-Fi driver release.

The Creative Vista board has a discussion about it, but I STILL cannot post URLs on this board.

On my nforce4 board and 4GB I still get snap-crackle-pop (SCP) when using games with SLI. Otherwise it's (pretty much) gone from windows audio, music, and even single-GPU mode with games.

Putting a lot of data over the PCI-E bus in SLI still seems to contribute to latency issues with the X-Fi on PCI, causing SCP.

It varies depending on your motherboard, chipset, and other addon boards, so its going to vary a lot per user.

I don't get SCP using 2 GB RAM.

Hey, Bal...I can post URL's in Creative's Forum. If you'd like me to post a question for you in their Vista 'board I'd be happy to.

Actually I meant that I can't post URLs on the ABX Zone forum.

I can post URLs on the Creative form as well. I had intended to link the Creative Vista Driver thread in my post, but the ABX Zone forum overlord prevented it.

As an FYI: Creative's driver install scripts, including ALchemy drivers, delete some default system junctions.

There is a post about it below, and daniel_k posted a fixed version of the latest X-Fi drivers in the thread:

creative drivers break windows vista junctions - Windows Vista - Creative Labs

Daniel_k also posted an .iso with the latest driver sets and ALchemy with the installation scripts fixed so they don't delete the system junctions:

SB X-Fi Series Installation Disc for Windows XP/Vista (unofficial) - Windows Vista - Creative Labs

The URLs are malformed. They need to be complete and not truncated.
