New Quandry. HD wars and the PS3 Blu-RAY

First things first let me say this

DOH !

on me for buying the HD-DVD player Two weeks before and now finding out that Blu-Ray is probably going to be dominant.

Instead of buying a seperate Blu-Ray player or a Hybrid player I was debating getting the PS3. That way i would have a Blu-Ray player and a game console. If I go that way how good is the Blu-ray player on the PS3. Is it a low grade one. What is the output on it ?

I am looking for ideas guys. Feel free to bounce them of me....

I've done the same with HD and am not going to worry too much. I don't think any Blu-ray profile 1.1 are out yet - or are very new. Without that it is an incomplete hardware spec. I found this yesterday... Why the PS3 isn't the best Blu-ray player - Engadget HD . No 1080/24 frame and no uncompressed audio. If Sony updates the PS3 it would be a no brainer as it would be cheaper and easier to update. But the hardware graphics engine isn't there, yet. I'll wait awhile. I would like to have Evolution Underworld, though. Holy mama-pajama the love scene was "screamin' hot". Can I get banned for that?
