no Audio from streaming video - Page 2

i've uninstalled and reinstalled my driver today and updated the drivers in the process

ok this is just plain strange, just to check i used realplayer itself and if i use the browser on it i get video AND sound, but i still dont get it if i use firefox or IE...........does that make sense to anyone?

Well, I'm only shooting from the hip here but my past experience with anything "Real" related is that it takes over your system and decides it wants to be the default everything for media, locking out other options for playback.
It could simply have disabled any other media player on your system. Since you're using on-board RealTek sound this makes sense (in a way). Have you taken a look at your RealTek control panel and seen what options you may have (if any) for integrating the player within browers?

I wouldn't want Realplayer within a ten block radius of my PC.

Well, his onboard sound is from RealTek, so it's not like there's much of a choice.

OK, out of curiosity...what is the default player?
