no Audio from streaming video

for some reason i can't get audio to play on streaming video, ive tried to uninstalled my driver and reinstall, updated codec's, updated quicktime/flash and java, ran virus scans and nothing works.
i know for a fact the audio card works because downloaded music plays and the radio on Itunes works without issue.
I've run out of idea's to try and was hoping someone can help or give me a idea of what it could be thats causing this.

Realtek AC97 Audio Card and it's not with certain websites it's with all websites, yahoo news,youtube, you name it if it has video it has no sound.
but like i said i can play internet radio without a problem

Have you tried wmv (Windows Media Player) video's, as well as Flash or other formats? What web browser or player program(s) have you tried? How fast is your internet connection?

i only have sound issues when i try to play streaming videos, everything i download i get sound and since the area i live in i dont get cable at all i had to go with the fastest DSL they have which is 6.0 which gives me 5843 kb/s download and 422 kb/s upload, i've tried flash, quicktime and abode all with the same results.

Yes but what program are you using to view the flash and quicktime files? Internet Explorer? Firefox? The Apple QuickTime Player? Other? Also, I suggest that you try to find a wmv (Windows Media Player format) video and see if Internet Explorer and/or Windows Media Player will give you sound with it.

i checked a WMV format and when the player comes up i do get sound with it, and i try to watch videos using IE and Firefox, to be honest i prefer Firefox since using IE to me is akin to putting your hand in a blender while it's on

So, are you saying that you do get streaming audio when you use IE but not with Firefox?

Well if wmv's work then it sounds like your browser plug-ins for the other formats may not be installed properly. IIRC Flash has to be installed separately for IE and for Firefox, and when you go to the download site to install it you should go via the browser you are trying to install it into. I think also that when you install QuickTime there is a choice of what browsers you want it installed into. Do you recall seeing that when you installed QuickTime, and were both IE and Firefox checked?

Also, in my experience with Firefox (which is under Linux), when playing wmv's it downloads the entire file before beginning playback (of either picture or sound), while IE starts playing right after some initial buffering. Just mentioning that as a point of information.

i don't get streaming audio with either but i do get the video with both.
and i just reinstalled everything today and made sure it was for both browsers
