| Recieved another new toy today I recieved my Denon AVR-3808CI. I had an AVR-3805 before. The AVR-3805 is still a great AV reciever though. I wanted something that had HDMI too clean up some of the cable mess though. I am now using HDMI with my 360 and for sending the signal to the TV. I plan on getting an up-converting DVD player and/or stand alone HD-DVD player which will clean up the mess even more. My current DVD player doesn't have HDMI so I am using component. It is in the process of updating the firmware right now. I'll run the auto setup after that. I'll then assign the connections once that is done. Pictures will be posted later. |

The main reason I'm considering getting the 3808 is to take advantage of the new True HD and DTS-MA codecs on my HD-DVD player, and simplify connections with the HDMI interface. If the overall sound quality is not much of a noticeable difference, I may simply wait for the next model due later this year or early next utilizing Dolby Volume.

| Re: Recieved another new toy today The remote that is still in the wrapper is for use in other zones. I was able to buy this for $1,119 after a 20% discount. I was thinking about getting one for a while and I couldn't pass up the deal. I'm not sure if I'll like the new remote. I'll have to use it a while before I make that decision. The one thing I don't like about it is all the s-video/rca connections. They could have added more optical inputs and component/HDMI connections and got rid of some of the old stuff. |
