Soundblaster Live Platinum 5.1 w/ Live Drive

Anyone with this particular sound card might be able to help me. The software RemoteCenter will not work. Everytime I try to use it, I get a box that says "unable to initialize audio device, check to see if sound card is properly installed". I know the card is in there and working because i'm always playing games and music. So now i'm just baffled. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

All cards, what slots they are in, what irq they are using....... the more info the better for someone to help you.

P3800eb w/ GlobalWin FOP38
IBM 75GXP 7200 30.7GB
Creative Annihilator Pro GeForce 2 GTS Ultra 64MB
SoundBlaster Live! Platinum 5.1 w/ Live Drive (Slot 5), IRQ 9
3Com V.90 56k Modem (Slot 6), IRQ 5
512mb of Micron PC133 SDRAM (don't actually have it yet, but it's on it's way) Right now I just have 384 generic, standard settings
Pioneer 16x DVD
Plextor Plexwriter 12/10/32A
WinMe (just fixed that restart problem thank god)
Tons of other fans........

Reinstalled the software last night and it still didn't work. Now i'm really lost. Help!!!

Try Sound blaster in slot 6, just swap the modem with it. All I know is SB in slot 6 Irq 5 works for me and most other people.

I have my SBLP 5.1 in slot 6 using IRQ5 and the remote works fine I also have a lava LPT2 card in slot 1 and it is using IRQ5 also with IRQ sharing inabled.

You should reload all your SBLP software again and see if this works.

After I moved mine to slot 6 I think I reloaded the software 3 times before all the features worked right. Also did you download the latest Player version (2.01) from Creative. The 2.0 player would cause a system lockup or hang at times.

I am using W98se.

Just a thought.

Thanks for all the input! I'll give that slot switch a try later. As far as play center goes, I don't even use that so I'm not to worried about it. I'll post something once I get things working. Thanks again!!

Check me if I am wrong but if you want your remote to work you would have to use Creative Play Center as they are made to work togeather. The whole Live Drive-Remote idea is geared around the Creative Play Center and the Creative Mixer Deck.

If you are playing a lot of music what is your player program??

Play Center works great and has a lot of good features I don't know of a better one out there.

I've been messing with my comp all weekend, and I come to find out that if there is a USB device plugged in, you can't run the Surround Mixer or Remote Center. Well, I have the Logitech Quickcam 3000 Pro, and when it's plugged in, I can't use the surround mixer or remote center. When it's unplugged I can. In the device manger the Soundblaster Live! and the Logitech Pro 3000 Microphone are grouped together. I tried making the Soundcard the primary mic, but it still didn't work. So now I am extremely perplexed, confused and befuddled. By the way, I am using RealJukebox Plus. It's the only music player I know and like. Any help out there???!!! Thanks..........
