| Well mine was a corrupt cab file in the 2048 Aureal drivers. Every problem I've had (2 of em) was my fault. the first my snd card was not plugged in (i can't see to cool due to eyelid spasms & medications) and this one was just as stupid i'm networking all my systems & i had changed the wiring on one of the plugs - again my eyesight. If u are having problems with the board or installation (especially installation) and the board is good i've found it's usually sensative memory - i posted something about it a day or two ago. Now if u find while installing an os u get lockups or hangs, etc, go into your Bios and drop your memory settings back a tad until Its stable. I play with lots of systems and in the past few days I've found lots of borderline or sensitive memory. You can always work around it and once you find your memorys threshold you got it made (then after u are thru u can up the settings again if u want) . This motherboard is the most stable I've ever had and I've went thru a lot. I repair & build computers from my bed (I'm bedridden). I can not stress the memory point enough thats 99.9 % of all installation problems. I played with different memory for the past week, I have generic supposebly PC-133 that wasn't stable at 101 mhz that ****** me off & I've even found some name brand memory (PC-133) that wouldnt do 103 mhz. All you have to do is do the memory thing (like above) then install the os & right after the installation install the 815 drivers & if U are installing win2K install the security driver. My 2 best system now (i have 4 - both at my bedside) are my Abit BX6-2 Mobo system & my CUSL2_C system both systems are full with at least 70 gigs of hdrive space, 512 meg ram & running higher then 800 mhz.. I overclock frantically. You are giving up the best board available today for Pentium type computers... if U don't mind me asking what kind of problems are you experiencing?? If it's just snd card we can fix that.. u can email me at rtshaw@advnet.net & I will help you as long as I don't need my eyes haha... I've walked even non tech types thru troubleshooting and even intallation of hardware & such (it use 2 be one of my jobs at NASA before I became terminal) This conference is the best I've seen and the answers here will help you get thru most of the grunt work without going thru the same problems. And the people are great... take care Ron

| bs.. Guys, dont guess what the problem might be when you dont know it, plz its just so annoying.. anyway here is the trick: Thank you for contacting Diamond Legacy Product Support. All I can suggest is that you update the BIOS and all necessary patches (like the IRQ routing patch, etc.) from your motherboard's site. It is at: http://cusl2.efront.com/ There are incompatibility issues with Asus boards and this card, and we normally recommend the use of reference drivers (the Aureal Vortex 2) located at: http://www.vortexofsound.com/drivers/drv_v29x.htm These usually solve the issue. The particular error you are getting is usually only relative to Intel 810, 815, and 820 chipsets. The "fix" is in the inf file, by enabling the line HKR, Config, DisableBusDetection, 1, 1, the card no longer cares if it's the primary bus or not. If you are not comfortable or adept at altering system files, I suggest you do not try this. Please feel free to contact us should you need further information or assistance. Thank you! from diamond support |
