Is it worth to change?

Hi all,

I am thinking of upgrading my sound card that is the
Audigy 2 value to the Auzentech X-fi prelude 7.1 or the
Creative X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatal1ty Pro Sound Card

Is it worth it?
Do I get better sound?
I only play games

Re: Is it worth to change?

I upgraded from teh Audigy 2 ZS. I haven't done much gaming since I got it though. I can't say if it is any better because of that reason. Buy it direct from Auzentech unless you can find another plae that sells it for 199.99 or less. Newegg wants 229.99 for it.

Re: Is it worth to change?

I bought the super-duper Creative X-Fi with the console just because i was tired of buying soundcards and figured this one would last me a looooong while. When it came to get speakers, i bought an open-box Onkyo home theater in a box set-up (6.1 channel, model HT-S680). A good computer speaker system is pretty expensive and the home theater in a box was cheaper and has a lot more features. Sound is fabulous, although Onkyo's customer support is pitiful. Something to think about when you shop.

If you're going to go Vista then don't bother since Vista has effectively killed off Creative.

In today's Fry Electronics flyer the Creative X-Fi Extreme Audio is going for $59.99 with a $20 rebate, for a final price of $39.99.

But doesn't Creative's ALchemy allow Vista users to run their sound cards just as well as they would under XP?
