ABXZone.com Forum Rules
FORUM RULES

ABX is dedicated to providing the best in reviews, articles and forum discussions of computer related technology in a friendly, community-oriented atmosphere.

In order to achieve and maintain this goal, we have adopted a number of rules to govern use of the forum. The purpose of these rules is to avoid unnecessarily offending members and guests and to maintain our larger goal of maintaining a professional site governed by a community spirit. We recognize that many may believe the rules are too strict, while others may prefer that they were even more severe.

No attempt to formulate rules can be successful in covering all possible problems or abuses of the privilege of membership. The administrators and moderators retain the discretion to take appropriate action with respect to posts that in their judgment are detrimental to the goals of ABX and its members.

We hope that all members will understand the need for rules in a forum as large as we have and will abide by them for the best interests of all. It is important to remember that ABX is a privately owned site and that Membership in ABX is a privilege, not a right.

Membership
  • Each person is limited to one user account. Additional accounts will be deleted without notice.
  • Usernames that are offensive or otherwise violate these rules are not permitted.
  • Membership of 90 days is required for the following:
    • Custom Avatars
    • Custom User Titles
    • Posting in the Classified Zone
  • New members may not post links until reaching a pre-set number of posts. This rule is necessary to curtail spammers. A new member unable to post a link may PM a moderator to check the validity and assist in posting the link.
  • Unsolicited and unpaid advertising in posts, signatures, custom titles, avatars or by any other means is not permitted.
Posting
  • General
    • Threads and posts should be in the appropriate forum. Moderators may move threads if they are better suited to a different forum.
    • Duplicate threads in different forums are not permitted. If a thread might fit in more than one forum, choose the one that seems best.
    • Off topic posts are welcomed, but should be in the Open Chat Zone.
  • No spamming will be tolerated.
  • Content
    • Religious and political topics are not permitted, except in the designated Heated Debates Zone.
    • Racist, sexist, and similar posts are absolutely not tolerated.
    • Swearing, obscenity, vulgar expressions are not permitted.
    • No nudity, sexually explicit images, or similar images or discussions will be posted nor will links to sites containing them.
    • Discussion of warez, illegal hacking (cracking), and other illegal activity is not permitted, nor are links to sites promoting these activities.
    • Attempts to circumvent these rules or the censor filter by using acronyms, variation in spelling, replacing letters with symbols, etc., will not be tolerated.
    • For your own protection from spider searches, do not post email addresses. If you need to give another member your address, use a Private Message.
  • Courtesy
    • Rudeness toward another member, including insults or other flaming will not be tolerated.
    • Private Messages are to be kept private; the contents may not be posted in a forum as this would defeat the purpose of Private Messaging.
    • A member who receives a threatening or harassing Private Message should report it to a moderator.
Rules Violations
  • Posts or threads that violate these rules should be reported using the "Report" button ( ).
  • Moderators may ask a member to edit a post if it contains questionable material.
  • A post that is in obvious violation of the rules may be deleted or edited by a moderator.
  • In most instances, blatant or repeated violators will be given a warning; if violations continue, the member may be banned.
  • In rare instances, conduct may be so detrimental to ABX that in the judgment of the administrators and moderators, immediate banning is required.
  • The length of a ban, which may be from one day to permanent, shall be determined by the administrators and moderators.
  • In the event a "spammer" joins the site for the sole purpose of posting SPAM filled threads, both the thread and the spammer's membership will immediately be deleted
Forum Guests
  • Forum guests are encouraged at ABXZone as most would like to "test the waters" prior to joining
  • Downloading content and some other features are perks reserved for members only and are not available for use by our guests
  • Forum membership is free and carries other bonuses in addtion to those mentioned above; like a "Members Only Software Store" (just to name one)that offers significant discounts to members on some of the best software utilities on the market.
