Asus ROG RAMPAGE V EDITION 10

Well guys, this is a very desirable mobo in my book. I always seem to move on to a new mobo but this seems like a great board to hang my hat on. It is basically a much sweeter version of the original Rampage V that my hat was hanging on.

ROG RAMPAGE V EDITION 10 | Motherboards | ASUS USA

First off the original Rampage V Extreme are all out of stock. These high end enthusiast boards do not hang around long and I do not want to miss the 10th Anniversary Edition. I keep a close eye on these things and remember how slim available the Rampage IV Black Edition was. IMO, the new RVE10 is also a Black Edition, ASUS just called it something better since it is also the 10th year anniversary of the ROG mobo's. The board is all black and has the same makeover as the X79 Black Edition like more SATA ports and better audio.

The key features I really like is the looks. I like the red gone really except for LED's but all the red plastic headers and connectors can go. I also love the rear built-in I/O panel. My current one is not lined up and it is the board because it is so warped. When I get my board uninstalled I am going to take a pic so I can post it here how warped my mobo is. It is due to it being so thin IMO. The new RVE10 is straight as an arrow. I have seen pics of the side and the back with the huge back plate. All the connectors are lined up perfectly in the rear because of the built in plate.

I also like the steel reinforced PCI slots as well as the LED's. I also like the high-quality onboard audio and especially the front audio panel with premium 6.5mm audio jack and volume knob. This will be the home for my new AKG headphones and I will get rid of the ROG OC Panel.

I will be getting this board soon while it is available. I am psyched about having such a good looking, sturdy mobo, and also having it be a 10th Anniversary ROG mobo. That is something special for sure and I am sure ASUS feels a lot of pride in this mobo. It will surely be a collectors edition IMO. Not only that, the ASUS STRIX 1080 is getting high marks for it's design quality and LED output. I will have to get one to go with this most awesome mobo. Later, I hope the i7-6850K price goes down as I will have to get one of those to. ;)

Yeah, things happen for a reason. If I didn't already move forward on the first Rampage V mobo I probably wouldn't have pounced on this one and if I didn't pounce on this one I probably would not be looking as hard at the 1080 STRIX.

I cannot say the RVE10 is the best looking mobo nor is the STRIX GTX 1080 the best looking video card but there is no question they both go together very well as far as LED's go. Also, my Corsair XMP Dominator (silver heat sinks) are not too flashy but they will look much better on this black mobo and LED's flashing.

BTW, I thought the RVE was one of the nicest looking mobo's when it came out but now I am turned off by all the red. You just can't beat black satin aluminum heat sinks with logo's and having million color LED's with backlighting effects shinning through them like the RVE10 and STRIX 1080. :)
It will go great with my big picture window. ;)

Wow, really surprised to hear that your current board is warping. Especially since you water cool. I would imagine that people who hang large air towers off their board would have even greater warping.

Seems to me that the heaviest thing on your board is the Strix, and you've attended to that with that power jack thingy.

Hope you get the new one soon, and they don't price gouge you so much.
New Motherboards are always so much fun...

Whoa...just thought of something....will you need a new Windows 10?

FYI,

There is a SUPREMEFX HI-FI USB DAC/AMPLIFIER that comes with this mobo. It first appeared with the new ROG Maximux VIII mobo a short while back. I have read up on it and it is basically an Essence quality audio device accompanying the mobo. I think it will offer good headphone quality because it uses the same good amp IC's and my Essence card.

Attachment 30762

"ROG knows sound matters to gamers and streamers, and that's why we include a front-panel headphone amp that delivers sound exactly how the studio intended – pure, unadulterated audio straight to your ears. The ESS® ES9018K2M digital-to-analog converter (DAC), dual Texas Instruments LM4562 op-amps and TPA6120A2 headphone amp work in harmony to faithfully reproduce every detail without distortion or jitter, so you enjoy audiophile-grade 32-bit/386kHz, and output of over 6VRMS to your favorite 600ohm headphones. SupremeFX Hi-Fi has a Cirrus Logic analog-to-digital convertor (ADC) for exceptional recording quality and, when you crave excitement over accuracy, fire up ROG's Sonic Studio suite to apply endless audio enhancements!"

Normally I would have bought this mobo anyway but the RVE10 has some of the best onboard sound circuitry ever placed on a mobo and it also comes with the box above. Some of the audio features read straight from my Essence card.

No the mobo was warped when I installed it. I will show you pics when I change it out. The board is very very thin which is unsettling of itself.

I have Windows 10 Pro x64 with latest SP now. Are you saying I will have a hard time reinstalling it? I had a hard time on this last mobo but I called MS and spoke to the rep politely for 30min and after giving him my full up reg. no. for Win 8.1 which I paid for he got permission to give me a new original and unique key for Windows 10 Pro to use. I shouldn't have any issues activating. There is also a limit on activations per key I believe.

I think it may be harder now with Windows 10. On earlier versions of Windows an OEM version was pretty much stuck to the original motherboard. The full versions of those could be de-installed and installed elsewhere.

I could be wrong about this, but with Windows 10, it is pretty much tied to the device. That is why once it is activated you can re-install it on the same motherboard without re-entering the key.

Think about it, if you were to sell your old Motherboard, the new owner can install a fresh copy of Windows 10 and activate it with no key what so ever

I hope I'm wrong on this.

Hey I don't blame you. If one was impressed enough to get the original RVE then this looks twice as impressive IMO.

I was bored and Googled the new mobo and it popped up at NE so I went to take a peek see. Well without planning on getting it I immediately bought it. I honestly feel I was lucky to get it too because it is that awesome of a mobo and a special black edition. I don't believe it is going to stay on shelves unless ASUS builds a ton of them and they usually don't with this class of mobo. Also, the new Skylake-E is arriving in the next 6mos and that will quickly make the RVE10 history.
