Re: Intel Optane SSD 900P 480GB NVME 3D XPoint!

I've got two STEAM drives, separate from my Windows system drive.
The first one had filled up so I installed a second drive for additional games. STEAM sees both drives and I can specify which one...

Re: Far Cry 5 - System Specs

Sandog, have you had a go at FC3 or FC4? If not then check out FC4, very beautiful, idyllic tropical island setting with spiritual qualities.
Its something like the original FC, only with modern...

Re: Far Cry 5 - System Specs

Just thinking about FC5 and its story and setting and I wonder if a non-American player may miss out on some of the more subtle and culturally oriented bits? I mean it’s got to make a difference...

Re: Gta V

Well you’ve got to appreciate the technical and artistic brilliance of it, despite some of the questionable gameplay and storyline premises!
Its a mammoth effort.

Re: Corsairs New 500D case from CES!

I've been playing some GTAV while waiting for FC5 (as well as some FC4).

Have they been upgrading this game? STEAM downloaded a fairly large update (I haven't played it in a long while) and I'm...

Re: Kernel-memory-leaking Intel processor design flaw forces Linux, Windows redesign

Same! I'm sure our systems are impacted though.

I haven't downloaded the latest Windows patches yet, either. I'm fairly concerned about performance degradation. But will have to do it...

Re: Kernel-memory-leaking Intel processor design flaw forces Linux, Windows redesign

Expect more security incidents in the future as service providers "balance" security against performance, i.e.: trade security for better performance.

Re: Kernel-memory-leaking Intel processor design flaw forces Linux, Windows redesign

Microsoft is doing some testing and has provided some preliminary information and its not good.

Here is the summary of what we have found so far:

Re: Video card scarcity.

Amazing. I would have thought mining cryptocurrency at home would not be cost or time effective!

So people are using GPU's why? Is it because they're cheaper than CPU's?

[edit] so i read this...

Re: Windows 10 on old pc not working

MS may publish a list somewhere, or the card manufacturer can probably confirm it for you.

Re: Kernel-memory-leaking Intel processor design flaw forces Linux, Windows redesign

Actually, it seems their first instinct was to downplay it.
I've heard talk the patches will go back several...

Re: Kernel-memory-leaking Intel processor design flaw forces Linux, Windows redesign

I'm really concerned about the performance hit of the patch.
I run a Q9650 (Yorkfield) and while I'm very happy with performance, its older architecture and the patch could degrade performance...
