Re: Phenom II vs Core i7: Gaming Value Comparison

That is true until intel decreases the prices of their i7 CPU and Motherboards.
And that is exactely what they will do and call it i5.

Re: First impressions New PC 955BE(4GB DDR3), Old AMD 1700+ (384MB DDR1)

Just in case someone wants to use the same motherboard.
Don't use the gigabyte raid controller ('OnBoard SATA' in the bios)
it is even slower than a single harddrive on the SB750.
Use the Raid 0...

Re: PS3 as external H.264 encoder for the PC

The reason that they invested money in it is because their very expensive (professional >5000$) PCI card (GigaAccel 180) has an next generation processor (PowerXCell™ 8i) on it compared to the PS3.

King of AMD CPUs - The Inquirer (http://www.theinquirer.net/inquirer/news/899/1051899/king-amd-cpus)

Re: IBM/AMD moving to 28nm short after 32nm

I ask some info on the AMD forum about FPGA/ASIC with AMD CPU's.
My thread was removed without explanation.
I like to think they don't want people to talk about what they are developing now in...

Re: IBM/AMD moving to 28nm short after 32nm

If I was AMD I would try something like an 'function set' instead of an instruction set.
I know this would make it very specific, But there aren't really much task that need so much cores.
An...

Re: IBM/AMD moving to 28nm short after 32nm

It's too early to compare performance/watt from two CPU's that don't even exist yet.
From what I read the TDP would be about the same for 28nm but the cost would be lower (die size), giving AMD a...

Re: IBM/AMD moving to 28nm short after 32nm

You shouldn't see it as an almost ready 22nm but more as an second generation 32nm with an optical shrink.
(The step from 28to22 is bigger than the step from 32to28.)

AMD would not equal intel...

Chipset 785G (780G,UVD-->UVD2) start Q3

The first chipset with UVD2 is on its way (beginQ3), luckily we don't have to wait for the 8xx chipset (end Q4) for this feature.
(This way I can buy a new CPU soon and wait to buy a new GPU until...

Exclamation IBM/AMD moving to 28nm short after 32nm

To reduce intels process advantage they will go to 28nm high-k metal gate short after 32nm in less than a year.
The normal next step is 22nm. (for intel)

Basically this means that AMDs 32nm will...

I'm wondering if the timing could be very crucial to the development of physics in games in the future.
If I'm not mistaken DX11(at least some add-on) will be competition for physics in games. But...

Re: Intel's roadmap to 32nm

So 32nm is for 2010 (we will not be impressed with 32nm dual cores at the end of this year, not sure why they do that)
Nehalem 45nm 4S also seems late, although it is 8 core.
isn't there supposed...

Re: Shanghai Bechmark

This one benchmark doesn't mean anything and if it means something it's positive for AMD.
More or less the same result like intels i7 with a lower power requirement.
And it seems intel still hasn't...
