Re: Asus ROG RAMPAGE VI APEX

Besides the mobo and 7820X CPU, all I need is some new RAM. I looked extensively at new RAM at different speeds and models. It was a toss up between what FBV has (2666MHz) or some 3200MHz and I chose the 3200MHz.

One of the reasons was the price which was only about a $20 difference from the 2666 sticks. Also, like I mentioned from reading reviews, the APEX is good at OCing RAM. The sticks are tied together (no empty DIMM) and are crazy close to the CPU. ASUS said they used their latest trace routing scheme on this mobo. The stick above are 3200MHz in XMP mode and that is supposedly the sweetest high spot for memory. In most applications, RAM speed makes no difference or very little, but if any gains are going to be made these sticks will do it. In other words, it will not hurt to run 3200MHz RAM as long as it is stable. It will do as well or better than 2666MHz sticks.
