I know everybody is disappointed in Intel and Intel knows it. I still like the new board a lot and I am not getting it for performance.



Here's some info on the new Prescotts that are suppose to be available October 1st THIS year hehe.

Desktop Intel® Pentium® 4 Processor on the 90nm Process Technology will undergo the following changes for the D-0 to the E-0 core processor stepping change:

# The conversion to E-0 Step will incorporate power optimizations to enable speed enhancements
# Includes Execute Disable Bit support and additional power management features (LGA775 only)
# The CPU ID will change from 0xF34h to 0xF41h
# Updated BIOS required
# E-0 is pin compatible with D-0
# Data Sheet available July 14, 2004
# New S-Specs for affected product line items
# Customer samples will be provided. Customer qualification required

Forecasted Key Milestones:
Date of Samples Availability: July 06, 2004 – July 30, 2004
Date of Qualification Data Availability: September 17, 2004
Date Customer Must be Ready to Receive Post-Conversion Material: October 01, 2004
Date of First Availability of Post-Conversion Material: October 01, 2004

in Q4 Intel will release a Prescott with the above features and stepping with 2MB L2 Cache and a 1066MHz FSB

By the way, I am getting this new board in the mail tomorrow and will post up some pics of it tomorrow evening. I plan on getting a 3.4 Prescott and 1GB of Corsair XMS DDR2. Power supply and case not planned yet and may get the ATI X600 PCIe if it is the best I can do at the time.
