Yes... p2125. Takes about 41 mins to complete 1 frame.

I have been hit hard with those slow work units. It has killed my ppd, and my poor Dothan sometimes does not even hit 100ppd.

Well, that explains the drop, bummer
We'll just have to hang in there till more 'fast' gromacs come out.

More ~400 pointers

Well, anyway, sorry about the delay getting my other Athlon system back up and running. I have a new Norditrack Elliptical trainer to assemble (more parts than I thought!).

Well the good news is that the supply of those super slow 400 pointers is drying up, although it looks as though there really is not very much variety when it comes to wu's

Yeah, I think researchers are gearing up for GPUCPU and SMP WUs.

Well, my wife's computer won't fold anymore (early terminations). I need to run so checks on it and take it apart, clean it and check it out. Kinda strange - it's been a solid folder for so long, and the cpu temp hasn't been going up, so I'm a bit lost

I'd check it for dust - it is a constant battle at our house. Just when I think I have good filters in the house, the puters clog up like crazy still.
I just cleaned my regular machine even though it was running fine - dropped 4c in temps.

Actually if it is those 30XX wu, there has been a significant rise in EUE's. And what stinks more is that 95% of the time we are getting the right results but only getting scraps in terms of point awarded for the cpu time.

This is probably it. Last WU her rig was 558 points I think, it was taking 1hr per frame!! It was something like 90% done then blam - some sort of core failure

Problems is, it has locked up her machine twice, which has never happened b/4. Maybe I need to take of 'advmethods' or something - I dunno. She really doesn't like it when her machine locks up.

BTW, here is something I'll be posting in the distributed computer forum RSN, but you guys with dual core procs should check it out now: Beginners guide to VMWare and SMP install - Overclockers Forums

You can increase you PPD by 2-3x

It's working on my core2 system. You can check out my results here -> XJ_[AB] - User Summary - EXTREME Overclocking Folding @ Home Stats

Hey guys - sorry I haven't posted in a while. I've decided not to put my K7s back online. Their output/kWH is just too low. My C2D rig is averaging about 1500 PPD on about the same power consumption as my 2.4GHz Barton (~250 PPD). Any additional folding resources I might add would need to "worth it" in terms of how much work the machine does per kWH.

AMD won't be back in the same ballpark as the C2Ds till the K10 series CPUs are release over the next 6 months. The dual core K9s are pretty efficient, but I don't have any of those right now. It's been super fun cheering on the team over the past 4 years. I hope that all of you with K8s will keep the team alive - and maybe start pushing back to the top when the children of Barcelona start hitting the streets later this year. And please consider SMP folding - there's both a Linux and windows client now, and this team could easily double it's output!

I thank all of you for your commitment to Folding, your commitment to team 1714 and to the Athlon folding team. I'll be around - don't hesitate to PM me if you want changes to the First Post or anything like that.

FOLD ON!

Thanks Ozzie, I clean my wife's machine about twice a year. I clean mine when ever I open the case if it needs it - which means it's always clean

Hey bud...your commitment to this team has been great and really appreciated.
I know many things have changed around our home as well and my rigs are getting long in the tooth.
One thing is certain...more changes yet to come...

Thanks again for all your support!

Re: **Join the Athlon Folding Team!!!**

It's great to see that there are people(?) still folding for the Athlon team! Hopefully with the new Phenom II X4s some folks will start using the SMP folding client and build a resurgent Athlon folding team!

Maybe I'll be back using a Phenom in the future - it'd be nice to be back in the AMD camp*

*Probably not this year, but here's to hoping anyway!
