64bit Kubuntu and RAM

I just installed Kubuntu 11.10 64bit. I went to system monitor and saw that i only have 2.9gb of usable ram. I have 4 gb (2x2gb) installed and recognized in bios. Why is my OS not recognzing all of my ram? i also have an amd system using a 64bit os, and i dont have this issue. any help is appreciated.

Re: 64bit Kubuntu and RAM

Sounds like the BIOS may be reserving some RAM and therefore it is not 'usable' to the OS. Look for a setting in the BIOS that may resolve this.
