Robopocalypse closer than we know
A scientist from the University of Massachusetts announced that she will develop a system that turns the original Turing Machine from 1936 into a device that is "expected" to deliver "a level of intelligence not seen before in artificial computation."
Story here Oh great. Fine. Human beings appear to have built in obsolescence because we keep trying to invent our replacement. No doubt 5 minutes after she turns it on she will be dead and our cars will develop murderess tendencies...

Re: Robopocalypse closer than we know
I marvel at the ability of some people to self praise when nothing has yet been accomplished.

Re: Robopocalypse closer than we know
Yes, all pretty scary stuff. I suspect that we'll accidentally cause it to come into existence rather than invent it.
Looking forward to the movie, book was fun. On the topic of whether it'll be friendly or not; my experience with intelligence is that IQ isn't a predictor of EQ. Plenty of intelligent selfish people out there. Can only hope.
